FAQ

Is there a volunteer requirement?

Yes — since 2009 every registered racer must commit to four hours of volunteer time (can be completed any time between the prior year’s race and April 30, 11:59 pm of race year). Volunteer roles include race support, trail maintenance, coaching, officiating, or community clean-up.

Can I change my distance after registering?

Drop-downs are allowed for ultra distances until May 10 of the prior year: 100 km → 50 mile/50 km/25 km; 50 mile → 50 km/25 km; 50 km → 25 km. No refunds for drops; 25 km cannot be dropped down. Changes require contacting race organizers.

What about refunds and transfers?

Registrations are not transferable. A 75% refund is available if you email the race before March 1 of the race year; after that, refunds are not offered except for expectant mothers and active military.

What should I bring?

Bring headlamp (useful for pre-race check-in and outhouses), required race gear per rules, and optional nutrition. Aid stations provide electrolyte, water, Coke, ginger ale, fruit, cookies, chips, sandwiches, soup, and pickles.
