FAQ

The course for a 5K is 3.1 miles. How long does it take to complete a 5K?

This is a fun, celebratory event — our fastest participants finish in about 25 minutes, while most cross the finish line in 30–50 minutes. Everyone is encouraged to walk, run, push, roll, or skip at their own happy pace.

Is it required for GOTR/H&S participants to go to the 5K?

This is the first 5K for many participants, coaches, friends, and family members. While not mandatory, the 5K is the goal teams prepare for all season and provides a tangible sense of accomplishment.

What safety measures are in place?

Every participant must wear a race bib provided by the council. Each runner is paired with a running buddy, and only critical volunteers have access to confidential information. The course is monitored with head counts and a safety plan is followed by staff and volunteers.

Is the 5K course accessible for people with disabilities?

Yes — the 5K is for everyone. All participants can walk, run, push, or roll safely and at their own pace.

Can additional family members or community members participate?

Yes. Family, friends, and community members outside the program may participate but must register.

Do participants/volunteers receive anything for running the 5K?

Every registered participant who finishes the 5K receives a medal. There is also merchandise available for purchase.

Will there be a registration price increase?

For non-program participants, there is a suggested donation of $10 to support programs and the event.
