About

Honouring the Scottish Commandos and raising funds for Scottish Veterans Residences, this 30K offers a solo route and relay options over historic North Berwick terrain, plus a 10K scenic walk.

Pacers

Pacemakers will be present on the road running event with target times displayed per start wave on the race day (Renntag) alongside pacing flag标识 to help runners maintain goal pace. Pacers are assigned to aid steady pacing and safe, consistent splits for both solo runners and relay teams.

FAQ

Are there age restrictions?

Under UKA Rules for Competition, maximum Road Running distances may be permitted for junior runners: Aged 17 years 25kmAged 16 years 15kmAged 15 years 10kmOver 13 - Under 15 years 6kmOver 11 - Under 13 years 5kmThese distances will also apply to multi-terrain races, which are generally held under road rules.The parent or guardian of a younger runner may request for their child to take part and the decision will be at the discretion of the race organiser and the final responsibility will be with the parent/guardian.

Are your races wheelchair / frame runner / buggy friendly?

Please note that not all of our routes are wheel friendly and if in doubt please just ask.Please make yourself aware of the safety recommendations for your wheeled equipment including tyre type, pressure, tread and if you are pushing a young child then also follow all guidance on age recommendations for buggy running.

Can I run with a dog?

Unfortunately our insurance will not cover running with your dog, this includes therapy dogs.

How many people can take part?

Our current limit is 800 runners per event.

Is the race chip timed or manually timed?

All our events are chip timed, and your time will be recorded automatically and sent to you after the event.Race results are also posted on our website, where you can check your performance and see how others got on.

Are the events officially certified?

The events which are Scottish Athletic Licenced have been measured by a Scottish Athletics official course measurer. The Sunset Festival Marathon has been licenced by Scottish Athletics as a marathon distance for example.

Are the routes accurately measured?

The Scottish Athletics Licenced routes have been measured by a Scottish Athletics official course measurer.

What is included in the entry fee?

Your entry fee includes marshals and first aiders on the course, water stations along the route (where provided – full details will be confirmed in your pre-race email), and food and drink at the finish area. You’ll also receive a chip-timed result, sent to you after the race, and access to event photos (subject to availability). A prize is awarded to the fastest male and female in each category. Medals are included in some events, while others offer them at an additional cost.

Can my child take part in the event on their own?

Yes, however, please note that minors are not the responsibility of the race organiser, neither on the course or at the start/finish area. There will be friendly marshals on the course whom they can ask for any assistance plus a designated meeting point arranged by the organisers (generally the finish area) but Blast Running cannot be held responsible for the safety of your child whilst you are not with them, either on the course or at the start/finish area.

Are the events licensed / insured?

Our events are either licensed and insured through Scottish Athletics or the Association of Running Clubs.Unaffiliated athlete levies of £2 per person should be paid by non-scottishathletics members who take part in any licensed event. These levies are collected by the Event Organiser and paid in full to scottishathletics. This will rise to £3 from 1st April 2026.

Is the Sunset Festival Marathon a Good for Age Qualifier for London?

Yes – The Sunset Festival Marathon is run on a certified course and can be used to apply for a Good for Age entry to the London Marathon. Please note that qualifying times vary by age and gender, and meeting the time doesn’t guarantee a place, as entries are limited and awarded to the fastest runners first. Full details are available on the London Marathon website.

What parking and public transport options are there?

You will be given car parking advice and public transport options in the pre-event email.

How do I register for their race?

Runners will receive an event email in advance with details of the registration area and opening times for their chosen event.All participants must have collected their timing chip from the registration desk on the day of their event. The reg desks will close approx 30 minutes before an event start time, apart from the monthly 5K @ The Meadows Series which will stay open until 15 minutes before the start.

How do relay teams register for their race?

Please send only one team member to the registration where you will be provided with one timing chip per team and a race number to wear each.

Is there bag drop or secure storage?

Unsecured baggage storage will be available at the Blast Running Gazebo. The event organisers take no responsibility for any items stored before, during or after the race however we will be there for the duration of the race.

Are there toilets along the course or just at the start/finish?

You will be given toilet location advice in the pre-race email.

Can I run with headphones?

You are permitted to wear bone conductors etc however please look at the marshals as you are passing them in case you miss an important communication from them.

Is there a Race Safety Briefing?

Yes, there will be a race safety briefing given to all runners 5 minutes before the event to go over any safety issues.

What is the race route?

We will provide you with a Strava link in the event emails leading up to your event.Please follow all instructions from our event marshals as they are there to ensure your safety. There are generally no cut off times for our events, we are here for community and support so any pace is welcome!

Is there a group warm-up before the event?

Some of our events include a fun group warm-up led by one of our team or a guest instructor, but not all. If a warm-up is planned, we’ll let you know in the pre-race email—so keep an eye out for the details!

Are there water/fuel stations on the route?

Some of our events include water stations along the route—details will be confirmed in the pre-race email.You’re welcome to leave your own clearly marked water bottle at a designated table, if available.If you can carry your own water, even better! Where water is provided, we use multi-use plastic or compostable cups.As access to drinking water taps can be limited at some locations, it’s really helpful if you can bring your own water for after your run—this helps ensure there's enough left for those still out on the course.

Are there any cut-off times?

There are generally no cut off times for our events, we are here for community and support so any pace is welcome!

Can spectators attend and where are the best viewing points?

Yes, spectators are very welcome at all our events! It's always great to have encouragement and support along the route. The best viewing points will vary depending on the course, but we recommend the start/finish area as a key spot to cheer on runners and soak up the atmosphere. For events along the promenade or in parks, there are often multiple locations where spectators can safely watch and take photos.

Are changing rooms or showers available?

We don’t have dedicated changing rooms or shower facilities at our events, so we recommend arriving ready to run, if you can. Some locations may have public toilets nearby where you can do a quick change if needed, but facilities vary depending on the venue. Full details will be shared in the pre-race email, so do check there for what’s available on the day.

Is there an official photographer?

Yes, we have an official photographer at our events except the monthly 5K @ The Meadows Series and the Summer 5K Series @ Inverleith. Event photos will be made available as soon as possible after the event.Details about accessing photos will be shared after the race.However, if you don’t want to feature in event photos please email us a few days before the race and we’ll make sure that you are excluded from social media / shared footage.

How soon are results available and where can I find them?

Results will be sent to the runners as quickly as possible on the event date, they will also be uploaded to Run Britain Rankings and posted in the results page on our website.

Are there prizes for different age categories or team entries?

There are spot prizes for all races and a small prize for the fastest male and female over the line. We try to secure a sponsor for each event who provides the prizes *please get in touch if you would like your business to sponsor one of our races*

Can I get a refund if I can’t take part?

Every year we get many runners drop out in the run up to event, for all sorts of reasons.Refunds - If you have purchased the refund protection then you can claim up to 90% back (event ticket only, not merchandise or charity donation).90% Up to 3 months before the event75% Up to 2 months before the event50% Up to 7 days before the event25% Up to 48 hours before the eventWe have a no questions asked attitude, so please don't feel you have to be injured to ask for a refund. We get that life can sometimes just get in the way!If you haven't purchased the refund protection and can no longer take part in the event we regret that no entry fees can be refunded, but please read on.Transfers - we offer FREE TRANSFERS to another Blast Running event, to another runner, or to race credits which can be redeemed for up to 1 year. You must give us at least 7 day's notice before the event and please email hello@blastrunning.co.uk with details about which event you are transferring from and your choice of transfer option.Event cancellation - In the unlikely event of the event being cancelled owing to forces outside the organiser’s control, we will add a race credit to your Blast Running account to the value of a 5K which can be redeemed for up to 1 year.

What is the Runners’ Statement and do I need to agree to it?

Runner agrees to:Follow the designated route, look at marshals in case any information is being conveyed, not to deliberately drop litter, not be aggressive to Blast Running event team nor other runners, return their timing chip at the end of the event.
