About

Climb with purpose on Rabbit Hill in Edmonton—each lap equals 217 ft of elevation as teams tackle one of the world’s famous mountains virtually, fundraising for registered Canadian charities.

Catering & aid stations

A hydration station will be located at the top of the hill and a more fully-stocked aid station (chips, pretzels, candies, and a rotation of various foods) will be located at the base. We recommend all attendees bring additional hydration and food to suit their preference depending on the length of time they expect to attend. There will also be a food truck or two available at the hill for runners and supporters to purchase hot food for lunch and/or supper.

Pacers

Laps are tracked via RFID — each lap equals 217 ft of elevation (Rabbit Hill). Pace groups and target times are outlined on the Renntag für Laufende schedule; one tracking device is shared among team members and must be passed between runners during the event.

FAQ

Is there a limit to team size?

Teams are limited to a total of 6 people.

How will my elevation be tracked?

We track laps rather than elevation. Each lap is equivalent to 217 feet of accumulated elevation. We use a Race Results timing system with RFID chip to track laps. While we’re working on making our timing system and app reliable and consistent, we highly recommend keeping your own record of laps as a backup, just in case.

Can more than one team member run at the same time?

No. There is only one tracking device per team. It will need to be passed off to whomever is running at a given time.

How difficult is this, really?

This is hard. The hill is steep (going up and down) and will require grit and determination to complete. This event has been designed to challenge, regardless of which mountain you choose to tackle.

What sort of aid will be provided? Do I need to bring anything for myself?

A hydration station will be located at the top of the hill and a more fully-stocked aid station (chips, pretzels, candies, and a rotation of various foods) will be located at the base. We recommend all attendees bring additional hydration and food to suit their preference depending on the length of time they expect to attend.

Will there be food options at the hill for supporters?

Yes! We’ll have a food truck or two available at the hill for runners and supporters to purchase hot food for lunch and/or supper.

What is the camping situation?

There is limited space available for you to setup a tent for sleeping/resting/changing etc. No trailers, please. First come, first serve. Campfires are not permitted, and there are no power hookups available (it is a ski hill, after all--not a campground). We kindly ask that you pack gear in by hand or with a wagon—no vehicles are permitted on the grass. The ski lodge is open for use as well.

Are there volunteer opportunities?

Yes! There are a limited number of opportunities to assist at aid stations. Please contact us if you're interested in helping out.

I would prefer to raise money for a charity not listed. Is that possible?

Yes! Please complete the contact form and include the name of your charity. Note that it must be a registered Canadian charity to be eligible. We kindly ask that you are committed to signing up before requesting a charity be added, as the setup process does take time and effort. Let’s make it worth their while!

Is the event weather-dependent?

The event will be held rain or shine. Come prepared to face whatever mother nature throws at us!

Where can I train before event day?

For liability reasons, we kindly ask that you do not train at Rabbit Hill outside of the designated training camps. Edmonton has lots of hills with free access: some to consider include Walterdale Hill, Gallagher Park Hill, Government House Hill, and Minute Hill (Whitemud Creek).

Can I bring my dog?

On-leash dogs are welcome in the spectator area at the bottom of the hill. No dogs are permitted on the hill.
