What distances are offered at Desert RATS?

Desert RATS offers 100K, 50K, 21K, and 10K distances.

Are registrations refundable or transferable?

Registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable. All paid entries are eligible for a one-time, for-any-reason deferral to the next year’s event until March 11, 2027.

What is the age requirement for each distance?

You must be at least 18 years old for 100K and 50K, 16 years old for 21K, and 12 years old for 10K.

What is the race day schedule?

Race days span April 9–11, 2027: 10K on April 9 (start 17:00), 21K on April 11 (start 08:30), and 50K/100K on April 10 (50K start 07:00, 100K start 05:00).

What is the course elevation change?

Elevation changes vary by distance: 50K features 3,400 ft of climbing; 100K includes an additional remote ridgeline out-and-back with similar climbing.

What is the registration price for each distance (USD)?

100K: $277.53, 50K: $183.17, 21K: $148.50, 10K: $76.59 (prices include processing fees).

What is included in the registration?

Race bib, race t-shirt, personal collapsible cup, access to aid stations, final and intermediate timing, finisher medal, post-race food, and withdrawal information.

Does the event offer elite runner entry or pacing?

Top-ranked UTMB Index participants may receive complimentary/discounted elite entry. There is no official event-wide pacemaker; pacing is self-organized or supported by paid pacers where allowed (check registration notes and rules).

What should I bring for weather and safety?

Mandatory gear includes protective eyewear, sun protection (SPF 50+), 2+ liters of water, a warm layer, waterproof jacket, gloves, and a lightweight emergency blanket. Desert conditions can change quickly; check the Runner Guide and aid station charts.
