About

A community fun run and fundraiser held in Far South Tasmania, benefiting the Royal Hobart Paediatric ICU, featuring scenic routes along Port Esperance with options for a 2km, 5km, 10km, and a half marathon.

Catering & aid stations

Dover Esplanade kiosk (coffee, snacks, brunch, lunch, sausage sizzle, gluten-free options); Surges Bay Hall check-in offers fruit and snacks for Half marathon; additional treats from Little Island Waffle Co and Trading Post pies/sausage rolls. Water stations along Half course and at start/finish; no refill stations — bring enough hydration.

Pacers

Pacers set target times per start wave shown on the event schedule: Dover Half aims for an 8:00 am start; Tassal Ten and Annabelle’s Run aim for respective early morning starts. Follow pacers’ flags and timing to stay on course.

When is the Dover Fun Run?

The In-Person run will be held on November 2, 2025, the Virtual Run can be completed from October 26 to 8am November 2, 2025.

Do any charities benefit from the Dover Fun Run race?

Yes. ALL registrations fees (after processing fees taken by the registration company), and donations made go to the Royal Hobart Paediatric ICU

Where does the Dover Fun Run run take place?

Start of Race: Esplanade Dover for the 2km, 5 km and 10km races. Esperance Coast Road for the 21km race. Refer to course maps for more details.

Is there a Virtual Run?

Yes, this year we will also have an option for virtual participation, this means you can join us from anywhere in the world for the Tassal Ten, the Bendigo Five or Annabelle’s Run. You can run the virtual event until 8am November 2, 2025. Record your time, go to our Results Page 2025 Open the results page Click on virtual event you completed Click on EDIT TIME for your name Enter finish time in HH:MM:SS Verify their name by entering their DOB Click Submit You’ll get an electronic participation certificate!

How do I get to Dover?

Follow the Huon Highway from Hobart! There is only one road haha

Is there anything to do in Dover?

Can I volunteer?

Yes! We always need people to volunteer as marshals, drink station attendants, time recorders etc. Contact Lydia at the Dover Community Hub or email us at run@doverfunrun.org if you’re interested in helping out.

How do I register?

Registrations are open. Online registrations close on 31st October at 11 pm. Please note that entry numbers are strictly limited, so don’t wait!

Where and when can I get my bib:

Bibs for all races can be picked up from the Port Esperance Sailing Club on Saturday, November 2 from 12noon to 4pm. Bibs for the Tassal Ten, the Bendigo Five and Annabelle’s Run can also be picked up from the info desk at the Port Esperance Sailing Club on race day, from 7 am and strictly no later than 15 minutes before the start of your race. On race day, bibs for the Dover Half can be picked up from the Surges Bay Hall from 6.30 am and strictly no later than 15 minutes before the start of the race. Make sure you get there early to grab your bibs in time for your run. You must wear your bib on the front of your shirt during the race, with your bib number clearly visible.

What time does the event finish?

Approximately 11.30am.

Do I get a refund for withdrawing?

Sorry, refunds are not available for withdrawals. If you wish to transfer your entry please email details to run@doverfunrun.com by Wednesday 30 October. Transfers to another race are only possible if the race is not already sold out.

Is there somewhere to leave my gear?

Bags can be left, at your own risk, at the information desk at the Port Esperance Sailing Club. Dover Half Marathon participant’s bags, will be transferred from the Surges Bay Hall to the Sailing Club by our bus service. Please do not leave valuables in bags as this area is not secure.

Bib collection

Bibs for all races can be picked up from the Port Esperance Sailing Club on Saturday, November 1 from 12noon to 4pm. Bibs for the Tassal Ten, the Bendigo Five and Annabelle’s Run can also be picked up from the info desk at the Port Esperance Sailing Club on race day, from 7 am and strictly no later than 15 minutes before the start of your race. On race day, bibs for the Dover Half can be picked up from the Surges Bay Hall from 6.30 am and strictly no later than 15 minutes before the start of the race. Are there any coffee and food vendors?

Dover Half / Surges Bay Hall: There will be some fruit and snacks available at the check in to the Half but no coffee available Dover Esplanade: The Port Esperance Sailing Club will be running the Kiosk with coffee, treats, brunch and lunch at the Port Esperance Sailing Club from 7 am until approx. 11.30 am There will be a sausage sizzle (gluten free options). IN THE RACE HUB AHREA Huon Valley Soft Serve for Ice Cream. Little Island Waffle Co Port Huon. Trading Post with their famous Pies and sausage rolls

Are there any Toilets?:

There are toilets at the Surges Bay Hall (start of the Dover Half), Port Esperance Sailing club on the Esplanade and the Kent Beach Playground area. For the Dover Half Marathon, toilet facilities can be used at Huon Aquaculture at Hideaway Bay (approx. half way mark).

Where can I Park?

Parking at the Dover School for ALL racers. With easy access and unaffected by road closures. Allow 3-5mins to walk to the Race Hub. Also plenty of parking at the Surges Bay Hall (start of the Dover Half) for Half Marathon runners. Parking Map Surges Bay

What roads will be closed?

ROAD CLOSURES – Sunday, 2 November 2025 To ensure the safety of participants, volunteers and spectators, police and SES controlled road closures will be in place: Esperance Coast Road from Huon Highway to Kent Beach Road will be closed from 7.30am-11.30am. Roads will be re-opened on a rolling basis by Tas Police when safe to do so. Road reopening times are approximately as follows (unless opened earlier by police): Huon Highway to Eva Gully Rd reopen approx. 8.30am Huon Highway to Police Point Rd reopen approx. 9.00am Huon Highway to Huon Aquaculture reopen approx. 9.30am Huon Highway to Big Roaring Beach Rd reopen approx 10.00am Kent Beach Road will be closed from 7.30am-11.30am Esplanade (including Dover wharf and boat ramp) from Kent Beach Road to Bay View Road will be closed for the duration of the event. And an important update to 2025: Station Road from the roundabout to Kent Beach Road will be closed from 8.00am-11.30am. Traffic controllers and Police will be in attendance. Can I dress up in a costume?

Of course! The more fun you have at the event the better, so feel free to dress up in your favourite running gear, all-weather make-up or even a tiara and tutu. Consider the weather, and dress sensibly!

Can I run with a pram?

Yes. Please start at the back of the field for the safety of the child as well as the other participants.

What happens if it’s raining?

We live in Tasmania! The event will only be cancelled if there are severe weather conditions such as flash flooding, thunder and lightning, strong winds or other unforeseen problems with the course. The event organiser reserves the right to cancel the event at short notice depending on race conditions. As per our waiver, no refunds will be offered if the event is cancelled as a result of conditions out of the control of the event organiser.

What prizes are up for grabs?

All runners in the Dover Half, Tassal Ten, the Bendigo Five and children entering Annabelle’s Run will receive a locally handmade Huon Pine finisher medal. There will be prizes for place getters in the Dover Half, Tassal Ten and Bendigo Five. Everyone entering the virtual Tassal Ten, the Five and Annabelle’s Run will receive an electronic certificate.

What do I do when I finish?

Your time will be recorded as you cross the finish line. No time will be recorded for parents/guardians in the Annabelle Run. Results will be published on our website.

Is there a cut off time?

The official cut off time for the Dover Half is 3.5 hours. The official cut off time for the Tassal Ten is 2 hours. There is no cut off time for Annabelle’s Run and the Bendigo Five.

Will there be First Aid?

We will have mobile First Aid as well as a First Aid Station at the Port Esperance Sailing Club with thanks to HSR Consulting.

What is the terrain like?

Dover Half: Challenging course on bitumen along the spectacular Dover Coast Road. Total elevation approx. 440 metres. Tassal Ten: Mostly flat with a couple of hills. Dirt tracks, shared bitumen roads and concrete footpaths. Bendigo Five: Mostly flat with a couple of hills. Dirt tracks, shared bitumen roads and concrete footpaths. Annabelle’s Run: Flat, dirt tracks, shared bitumen and concrete footpaths.

Will there be drink stations along the course?

We will have 1 drink station on the Tassal Ten course and there will be water available at the start/finish line for all races. You will pass the start/finish line at around the halfway mark during the TT run. There will be 4 drink stations spread along the Dover Half course. Refer to the map for details. Where will the first-aid stations be located?

Mobile First Aid Service will be provided for this event with thanks to HSR Consulting. If you don’t feel well, or hurt yourself during the run, report to the marshals on the course or at the finish line or ask another competitor for help.
