FAQ

What is adventure race?

An adventure race (AR) is an untimed-orienteering–oriented event where teams navigate between unmarked controls using map and compass, integrating multiple disciplines such as running, mountain biking, canoeing/kayaking, climbing, and team tasks. Lengths vary by team speed, commonly referenced by target (winnertid) and maximum time.

What are the distance options?

Fighter (entry-level, 3–5 hours), Challenge (intermediate, approx. 8 hours max 12), and Master (hardcore, approx. 12 hours max 13). Choose based on experience and fitness.

Do I need a license?

Yes. For Master or Challenge distances in a DARU tournament race, a personal DARU license is required. It is valid for one season and is automatically added to the fee of your first race registration.

What should I bring?

Map, compass, appropriate outdoor clothing, mountain bike or cycle (check bike leg rules), water, snacks, and any required safety gear. Exact kit lists are provided closer to race day on the website and registration pages.
