Frederick Summer Solstice 8K

Road runs in United States, Walkersville
About
Herald the beginning of summer in the Northern Hemisphere by running the 8th annual Frederick Summer Solstice 8K (Frederick County’s Original Twilight Race), presented by the Frederick Steeplechasers Running Club. Run the race and then stick around as the sun sets for a legendary celebration party with craft beer and live music.
Pacers
Pacemakers will be present for the 8K and One-Mile Fun Run on race day (Renntag) to help runners hit target times per start wave. Look for Pacer flag volunteers on course who can direct you to aid stations and provide encouragement.

FAQ
What if the weather is bad?
The race will only be impacted by lightning, high winds, or tornadoes. Excessive heat may cause a downgrade to a Fun Run but cancellations are unlikely. For safety updates check the race page; volunteers will direct runners to shelter if needed.
Are there aid stations and what is provided?
Yes. Hydration cups are available at three water stops along the course. Bottled water and sports drinks are provided at the finish line. Food trucks and beer (for those 21+) are available in the celebration area.
What is the time cutoff for the 8K race?
The 8K has a time cutoff of one hour and 15 minutes (15 minute/mile pace). Please ensure you can return to the finish before dark.
Are pets allowed?
Dogs are not allowed on the course. Leashed and well-behaved dogs are permitted in the celebration area only.
