Golden Gate 5K Run/Walk
5 km
A unique double-race format on San Francisco’s scenic waterfront at Crissy Field with iconic views of the Golden Gate Bridge—run a 5K, take a short recovery break, then complete a 3K second leg. Created by Bob Anderson in 2010, it combines two races into one event with pace groups, a halftime show, awards, and a finish-line medal for all finishers.
Water stations and light refreshments on course; finish-area hydration and snacks provided.
Pace groups are offered for all distances. On race day (Renntag), target times per start wave are published for the Double 8K (two legs: 5K then 3K) to help pacer‑led groups stay on pace. Pacers run with flags to keep the group together; splits are tracked for the combined Double 8K time.
Monthly averages based on historical data (2000–present).
The Double 8K is a two-stage race: a 5K followed by a 3K with a 1-hour 15-minute recovery break (the halftime). Combined times determine your result.
Yes, the course is open to all abilities; walking is permitted and encouraged for participants.
Yes, age-group awards are presented in 8-year divisions and trophies are awarded to overall winners.
