About

Halddemarsjen is a traditional mountain marathon and torch run held annually at the end of August. The course runs 15 km from Kåfjord to the former northern lights observatory on Halddetoppen (907 m), with an average 10 % ascent and a final kilometre climbing 20 %. Participants choose between a competitive race or a recreational 18 km tour with return to Kåfjord.

Kafé in startområdet open 11:00–16:30; café on Halddetoppen open 09:30–14:30 with coffee, waffles, brus, and sausages.

Pacers

Competitive races feature pacers with flags and target times announced in Renntag for Laufende: aim to meet your start wave time indicated by pacer bibs and flag markers. Pacers help runners maintain race pace on the 8.3 km competitive course.

FAQ

What should I bring to the competitive race?

Bring a backpack with minimum 2.5 kg (checked at start), warm clothes, drink, and optional gear; there is a drink station ~4 km from the summit.

Is there a registration deadline?

Yes — the registration deadline is Friday before race day at midnight for the competitive class; on-site registration incurs an additional 100 EUR fee.

Are there prizes?

Yes: prize certificates for 1st–3rd in each class (if at least 3 participants), and a donated stopwatch prize for new course records in men’s and women’s classes.
