A 53-mile point-to-point trail ultramarathon through Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park from Milngavie to Tyndrum, first held in 2006.

Catering & aid stations

Free food drop bags at checkpoints (Balmaha 19.8 mi, Beinglas 13.7 mi), hot home-made food, tea, coffee, and drinks at the finish; period products available in all event portaloos.

Pacers

Not applicable: no support runners or pacers allowed. Relay option available (separate entry); relay cut-offs: Leg 1 to Rowardennan by 12:45pm; Leg 2 from Rowardennan with cut-offs at Inversnaid (2:45pm), Beinglas (5:15pm), A82 road crossing (8:15pm).

FAQ

Do I need previous ultramarathon experience?

Yes—you must have completed an ultramarathon, road marathon, or trail marathon after 1 January 2024. Road marathoners must finish under 5 hours; trail marathoners any time. Equivalent off-road experience may be considered at discretion.

What are the race cut-offs?

Nominal 9pm finish with four mid-race cut-offs: Rowardennan (27.2 mi) by 12:45pm; Inversnaid (34.5 mi) by 2:45pm; Beinglas (40.9 mi) by 5:15pm; A82 road crossing (50 mi) by 8:15pm. 5:00am starters receive an extra hour at each cut-off.

Can I enter as a nonbinary runner?

Yes—there is a nonbinary category. The event uses an Active Gender Entry system with 500 women, 500 men, and nonbinary spots.

What is included in my entry fee?

Race route, luggage transport, water at checkpoints, food drop bag transport, technical t-shirt, neck buff, medal, Highland Fling prosecco, hot food and drinks at finish, heated marquees, post-race massage, and live online updates.

Are pacers or support runners allowed?

No—no support runners or pacers are allowed. Relay teams must use the drop bag system; team mates may not provide support on course.

Do you offer fee support or flexible payment?

Yes—if the fee is a barrier, email for options including payment plans or a reduced fee. Low-income support is available.
