About

The Homer Epic is a 50 km or 100 km human-powered winter race in the Caribou Hills on scenic, marked winter trails. Participants can ski, bike, or change mode up to the start, with SAST and staggered start waves for 50 km and 100 km.

Catering & aid stations

Water and snacks at checkpoints; carry mandatory gear; no on-course meal service.

Pacers

Pacemakers will be provided for both the 50 km and 100 km events as listed in the schedule (Renntag): 50 km starts 9:00, 100 km starts 8:00. Follow pacemaker flags and timing at checkpoints; aim for target splits to stay on pace.

What should I bring for the Homer Epic?

Bring a headlamp (with fresh batteries), rear flashing light (8 PM–8 AM), insulated water container (≥1 qt), food for 24 hours, navigation (course map, compass or GPS), layered waterproof jacket and pants, appropriate winter footwear, crampons/traction as needed, first-aid kit, and emergency shelter/tarp.

Can I change between skiing, running, and biking during the race?

Yes, you may change your mode of travel up until you pick up your bib at the start/finish. Notify race officials if you plan to switch before race day.
