About

The final 2026 event of the Canterbury Winter Trail Run Series, set at Inverary Station just west of Mount Somers. The course winds through rugged rocky trails, open tussock and matagouri country with multiple creek crossings, long climbs and epic waterfall views on the longer routes.

Catering & aid stations

On-course aid stations offer PURE Sport Nutrition electrolyte drink and plain water. No cups provided — bring your own bottle or hydration system. Sustenance for the Epic: drink available at the finish line.

Pacers

Pacers set target times per Startwelle at each distance: Slope Sprint (5–7km), Midi Mountains (9–12km), and Endurance Epic (19–23km). Pacers carry a yellow Pacerflag and will run to their target times; participants may pace alongside or be inspired by the Pacers.

FAQ

What are the cut-off times for each distance?

Slope Sprint (5–7km): 3.5 hours. Midi Mountains (9–12km): 5 hours. Endurance Epic (19–23km): 6 hours. These are firm cut-offs; the Event Director may exercise limited discretion for Slope Sprint and Midi Mountains based on conditions.

What is compulsory gear for all participants?

Compulsory for all: waterproof jacket (fully waterproof, seam-sealed, with hood), mobile phone (fully charged), personal medication recorded on entry form, suitable pack/vest/waist pack, thermal base layer top (wool or synthetic), thermal beanie/hat, and sufficient nutrition/500ml water (1000ml recommended). Mud/Midi/Epic also require mud-specific gear — details on the Entry Info page.

Are there aid stations on all courses?

Aid stations are provided for the Midi Mountains and Endurance Epic only; the Slope Sprint has no aid station. All stations offer PURE electrolyte drink and water; no cups are provided.

Can I register on the day?

No on-the-day entries are permitted for Inverary Station. Collect your race number during the designated time window before race morning.
