A legendary Colorado tradition and one of the most iconic cycling events in the country, featuring races on the historic narrow gauge steam train route from Durango to Silverton with mountain, road, and gravel disciplines against stunning San Juan Mountain backdrops.

Aid stations are located at The bottom of Shalona Hill, Haviland Lake, Purgatory Nordic Center, and Coal Bank Pass. They provide liquids and food but no mechanical support.
Pacers
The Iron Horse Bicycle Classic is sanctioned and insured by USA Cycling this year. All race (Coca-Cola Road Race, MTB, King/Queen Omnium, Gravel/Road Omnium) riders are required to hold a USAC license. If you do not hold a license, a one or two-day license will be automatically added to your Iron Horse Bicycle Classic order.

What is the registration fee for the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic?
The event is currently free to enter. All race (Coca-Cola, MTB and King / Queen Omnium, Gravel / Road Omnium) riders must hold a USAC license, which can be purchased separately if needed.
Where can I drop off my luggage on race day?
You can drop off a small bag of clothes at the packet pick up event on Friday May 23 from 2PM-7PM at the BAG DROP sign and truck at Buckley Park. Label your bag. There is also a last minute BAG DROP at the start the morning of the race. Labeled Bags must be dropped by 6:45am sharp.
What are the aid stations on the course?

Is parking available in Durango?
Parking in Durango is limited. There is no parking allowed at City Market. Limited parking is available on East 3rd Avenue between East 29th and East 32nd. Riders are encouraged to carpool or bike to the start line.
What time does the road close at Purgatory?
The road closes at Purgatory at 7:30am. Please allow 45 minutes to get past the road closure. We recommend leaving Durango by 6:30am. The road opens back up at 1:30pm.
Are there return busses available?
Yes, 2:00PM and 3:00PM Return Busses are currently available. Number of seats TBD.
