ISTRIA 100 by UTMB started in 2013 and today it gathers more than 3000 runners from all over the world. In 5 distances, 100 miles, 110k, 69k, 42k and 21k, courses combine every aspect of Istria: difficult and technical terrain, little bit of coasteering, old medieval towns, deep forests, city centres, muddy wallies, streams and brooks, canyons and many beautiful panoramas.

What day does each race take place?

Istria 168K: Friday, April 10th, 2026 at 17.00 h, in place called Labin. Istria 110K: Saturday, April 11th, 2026 at 07.00 h, in place called Buzet. Istria 69K: Saturday, April 11th, 2026 at 09.00 h, in place called Buzet. Istria 42K: Saturday, April 11th, 2026 at 12.00 h (noon), in place called Motovun. Istria 21K: Sunday, April 12th, 2026 at 10.00 h, in place called Groznjan.

Where is centre of the race?

The city of Umag is the race venue. In Umag you have: Official accommodation BIB and start pack pick up EXPO Bus shuttle to the start of each race Finish Line Hot meal after the race (buffet style) in one of the official hotels Awards Ceremony We suggest you to be accommodated in Umag for the full experience of the race. Bus shuttles (in case you booked) will take you from Umag to the start of each race (to Labin, to Buzet, to Motovun and to Grožnjan). After reaching the start city, you will run the Istria 100 by UTMB beautiful course and reach Umag again. What distances and elevations are in Istria 100 by UTMB?

Istria 168K course: around 168 km and about 7.140 meters elevation gain. Istria 110K course: around 110 km and about 4.074 meters elevation gain. Istria 69K course: around 69 km and about 2.331 meters elevation gain. Istria 42K course: around 42 km and about 1.153 meters elevation gain. Istria 21K course: around 21 km and about 157 meters elevation gain.

What distances are in which UTMB categories?

100M UTMB category: Istria 168K 100K UTMB category: Istria 110K 50K UTMB category: Istria 69K and Istria 42K* 20K UTMB Category: Istria 21K *Istria 42K does not grant direct access to UTMB Finals.

What are the cut-off times?

Istria 168K course: the cut-off time for finishing is 45 hours. Istria 110K course: the cut-off time for finishing is 28 hours. Istria 69K course: the cut-off time for finishing is 15 hours. Istria 42K course: the cut-off time for finishing is 8 hours. Istria 21K course: the cut-off time for finishing is 4 hours.

What is UTMB Index and do I need it?

The UTMB® Index created by Didier Curdy is at the heart of our new sports system, and over the years, it has demonstrated its relevance and its quality. The UTMB® Index will now be accessible on utmb.world and will continue to provide the performance level of each runner participating in the UTMB® World Series races. Runners with a valid UTMB® Index will have privileged access to register for a UTMB® World Series Event or UTMB® World Series Major and will use their UTMB® Index to validate their entry into the UTMB® World Series Finals lottery. A valid UTMB® Index is achieved by completing at least one UTMB® World Series Major, UTMB® World Series Event or UTMB® World Series Qualifier race within the last 24 months.

What is the official nutrition sponsor of the race?

The official nutrition sponsor is NAAK and you can find NAAK products on the aid stations.

What nutrition is available on race day?

A variety of refreshments and supplies will be available along the course for the exclusive use of participants: drinks, sweet, salty, bread, and also gluten free and vegan options. For sustainability reasons, no cups will be provided on the aid stations. Race organisers will only supply drinks into the vessels, drums or liquid bags of athletes. Runners should ensure that they take on sufficient quantities of food and drink to get them through to the next refreshment post. You can find more details in the Race Guide couple of weeks before the race.

Which post-race services are available for runners?

After coming to finish line, all runners have: hot meal in a hotel (buffet style), free shuttle service from sports hall to hotel (to get the hot meal) and back to sports hall (in case they are not accommodated in official hotel where the buffet is served), shower in the sports hall and massage in the sports hall.

Who do I contact regarding official race photos?

How to register?

Before starting the registration process, please check you have a MyUTMB account and your race results are linked to your page. Find out here all the info to set up your account.

UTMB Index owners registration priority

A 48h registration priority window is given to the owners of a valid UTMB Index.Runners without a valid UTMB Index may wait for 2 days before entering the registration process. For more information, please check all the benefits here.

I cannot register, what can I do?

If the registration process continues to loop, please change your device and browser.We advise you to use a computer and the Chrome browser. If your payment has been refused, please try again later, try with another credit card or contact your bank.

I registered but didn't receive any confirmation

If you have registered, but have not received a confirmation email, first check with your bank to see if you have been debited.If you have not been debited, try registering again. If you have been debited, please check your Spam folder or contact us via our contact form here in case you haven't received any email in your Spam.

What's the deadline for registration?

Registration will be open until all places have been filled, but until February 15th, 2026 the latest. There will be no waiting list or re-opening of registrations.

Can I cancel my registration

If you wish to cancel your registration, you can request through your Participant Dashboard. Please make sure you read the cancellation conditions before requesting your cancellation and check if partial refunds apply.

Medical certificate

Medical certificate is not required.But we recommend the runners to have regular medical check-ups, especially for those who are exposed to a greater physical load.

I want to make a change to my personal data (address, email), how can I do it?

Log in into your Participant Dashboard and edit your registration details from there.In case you need to modify the email address, send an email to istria100@service.byutmb.world We will take care of it for you.

Once I have registered, can I change my registration to another distance?

For security and control reasons, registration is nominal and non-transferable.Transfer of bibs between runners is not permitted.It is possible to transfer a registration to a shorter distance until 3 weeks before the event and in the limit of places available. In this case, no refund will be made.The event organiser must be contacted directly via email.It is also possible to ask to transfer a registration to a longer distance but the request will not be automatically accepted and will be at the discretion of the race director.Transfers are only available if the new distance is not sold out.It is not possible to postpone the registration to the following year.

What are the prerequisites for entering each of the races?

There are no UTMB Index points or resume requirements to sign up. Be aware of your physical condition and limitations. Become familiar with the mountain terrain and gain experience. For the 168k, 110k, 69k and 42k races you must be at least 18 years old. For the 21k race you must be at least 16 years old.

Do I need any kind of insurance in order to compete?

We don’t require any insurance for participating in the race, but we strongly suggest to all foreign runners to take international medical insurance that covers all types of sports. Foreign participants that do not hold any insurance, are responsible for paying all medical costs in case of accidents.

Is there a waiting list once the entries are sold out?

No, there is no waiting list.

Do I need to buy a bus ticket?

Start locations are different for each race. Race centre is in Umag, and from Umag all the buses drive to start locations before the races start. In case you don’t have personal support that will take you to start of your race, we recommend to buy a bus ticket to take you to your start location (Labin for 168k, Buzet for 110k and 69k, Motovun for 42k and Grožnjan for 21k). Schedule for bus departures is available on the website and will be published in the Runner Guide.

Is there a minimum age to participate in each of the races?

Minimum age to participate in 168k, 110k, 69k and 42k races is 18 years. Minimum age to participate in 21k race is 16 years.

What is the registration procedure to follow during race week?

Bib numbers need to be collected in person and runners are required to present a photo ID and the QR code of your registration, which you can find in your confirmation e-mail from Njuko. Bib numbers cannot be collected by someone else on your behalf.

Where and when will check-in/registration take place?

In Umag in school’s sports hall. START PACK PICK-UP & BUS DEPARTURE LOCATION ADDRESS: School’s sports hall “Marija i Lina”Školska ulica 1452470 Umag PLEASE NOTE: there are 2 sports hall in Umag. You need to go to school’s sports hall. The address is Skolska ulica 14, Umag. On-site registration and BIB pick up is from Thursday until Saturday. Please take a look at the schedule here. Schedule might change as the race approaches, so please follow the updates on the website and in the Runner Guide. On Saturday afternoon and on Sunday, BIB distribution is not possible.

What do I need to bring for the registration process?

You need to bring Identification document, QR code of your registration (received by email - confirmation email).

Can someone pick-up my BIB (register on-site) for me?

No, you need to come in person, present your ID, QR code from confirmation e-mail.

Can someone else pick my drop bags after the race?

The drop bags can only be delivered to the runner or a friend or family member by presenting the runner's BIB number.

What is the location for BIB & start pack pick up?

Where can I park the car to go and collect my BIB and visit the expo?

There are a lot of parking spaces near shopping centres opposite of the sports hall (across the road). Parking is free. Find google maps location here.

Where can I park the car if I want to go to finish line?

There are 2 parking locations available. We suggest you to go to the biggest one, on the waterfront. You will walk along the course and get to finish line easily. Find google maps location here. The second one is a bit smaller. Find google maps location here. There is hourly fee on both parking locations.

Where is the finish line location?

Finish line is at the old main city square (address: Trg Slobode). Find google location here.

Where is the bus departure location?

Buses that take runners to their start cities go from Umag. Gathering location is in front of the sports hall. Departure location is here.

Where is location for massage after the race?

Massages are available at the sports hall after the race. Once you finish the race, you need to go to sports hall to pick up you bag from the start or drop bag from Buzet aid station, take a shower and enjoy your free massage. After the massage, take a free shuttle to hotel and enjoy your meal.

Where is after race hot meal served?

After race hot meal is served in hotel Aurora Plava Laguna. There is buffet for all runners. All runners need to bring food voucher or start number. There will be free shuttle service with a van from sports hall to hotel Aurora Plava Laguna and back to sports hall. All runners can use this service for free. Shuttles drive non-stop. If you have company that would like to have buffet hot meal at the hotel with you, they can buy the ticket at the entrance of the restaurant.

Where can we pick up the drop bags?

There are 2 types gf bags. Runners at 21k, 42k and 69k will receive only one small bag to put in the personal stuff at the start line (jacket or similar). This bag will wait for you at the sports hall after the race. Once you cross the finish line and collect your finisher medal, you need to go to sport hall and pick up the bag. After you can take a shower and have a massage. Runners at 110k and 168k will receive one small bag to put in the personal stuff at the start line (jacket or similar). You will also receive one big bag (drop bag) which is transition bag and you need to put inside stuff that will wait for you in Buzet - the biggest aid station. At this aid station you will have showers and beds so you can take a shower and have rest. This transition bag will go back to Umag together with small bag that you left at the start line. Once you cross the finish line and collect your finisher medal, you need to go to sport hall and pick up both bags. After you can take a shower and have a massage.

On which aid stations is support allowed?

Support is allowed at the following aid stations ONLY: 168K course: Mošćenička draga, Poklon, Buzet, Livade 110K course: Buzet, Livade 110K course: Livade 42K and 21K course don’t have aid stations where support is allowed. To be able to enter the aid station and to assist to runner, support member needs to have “support bracelet” on the arm. This is a pass to enter the station. Support member is allowed to enter the aid station 5 minutes before the arrival of their runner. As soon as the runner leaves the aid station, support member has to leave the aid station as well and leave space available for another supporter. All runners are allowed to have 1 support member that is able to enter the aid station. Support is allowed to come to other aid stations as well, but is not allowed to assist and help, just to cheer. In start pack, all runners will revise a print document called “Race Info” which is made for support members and contains all important info: aid station locations, aid station opening hours and similar.

Are all aid stations accessible by car?

Almost all aid station are accessible by car and asphalt road. Aid stations where support is allowed are all easy accessible by road and normal car and they all have parking in the vicinity: Mošćenička Draga, Poklon, Buzet and Livade.

What food is served on aid station?

Different aid stations have different food selection, but mostly you can find fruits, salty snacks, Nutella and bread, pastries, cheese, water, coke, iso, coffee, tea, hot soup. At the aid station in Buzet (for 168K and 110K) you have variety of hot meals. Details will follow in the Runner Guide before the race.

Where can I find my transition bag?

Before the race: you will receive this big bag in your start pack. You need to fill it with the stuff that you might need in Buzet (aid station). This can be spare clothes, spare shoes and nutrition. Bring it to sport hall and give to the volunteers before you go on a bus that will drive you to the start. During the race: once you enter Buzet aid station, volunteers will give you your transition bag and small bag from the start. Use what you need and before leaving the aid station, return it to the volunteers. After the race: once you cross the finish line and collect your finisher medal, you need to go to sport hall and pick up both bags. After you can take a shower and have a massage.

Where can I find my small bag from start?

Before the race: you will receive this small bag in your start pack. You need to take it to start location and fill it just before the start with a jacket or something what you don’t need during the race. Leave it at the start location in the race van - give it to the volunteer! After the race: once you cross the finish line and collect your finisher medal, you need to go to sport hall and pick up the bag. You need to show your start number to be able to pick it up. After you can take a shower and have a massage.
