A 239 km / ~7,500 m elevation challenge on the Jurasteig trail from Dietfurt through the Bavarian Jura, organized as an invitation-only event with multiple start waves.
The event employs pacers on course and at turnarounds; see the "Startgruppen/Startzeiten" and "Rahmenreglement" pages for target times per start wave and pacifier flag regulations.
Monthly averages based on historical data (2000–present).
Three start waves (09:00, 11:00, 15:00) manage logistics at the Danube crossing (VP 3), which is limited to about 5 participants per boat trip and operates from 21:00 until capacity is reached. Early start groups get priority; the 15:00 group is for faster, more experienced runners.
Yes. Each runner receives a 50-liter color-coded drop bag at registration. Bags are transported between VPs (Matting→Schmidmühlen→Deining→Dietfurt or Kastl) by the organization; pickup is at VPs after preceding stages close. Drop bags for 239 go to Matting (VP3), Schmidmühlen (VP7), and Deining (VP11); for 170 to VP3 and VP7 then shuttle from Kastl; for 104 to VP3 then shuttle from Pielenhofen.
JUNUT 239: up to 54 hours (depending on start group); JUNUT 170: up to 39 hours; JUNUT 104: up to 23.5 hours. Missing a mandatory checkpoint or finishing out of your wave may affect results and awards.
