About

A unique multi-sport challenge in the beautiful King Valley, North East Victoria. The event includes run, kayak, and cycle legs with multiple distance options from 2km to 15km run, 12km kayak, 39km cycle, and a 2km Primary School Challenge.

Catering & aid stations

Food and drink available at start-finish; event hub with music 7:00am–1:00pm.

Pacers

Pacemakers are announced for each start wave on race day (Marathon, Half Marathon, 10km, 5km, 2km). Follow the designated start times and Pacerguide flags; aim to match your target pace per wave.

What distances are available at King Valley Challenge?

2km Primary School Challenge, 5km, 10km, Half Marathon (21.1km), Marathon (42.2km), Kayak 12km, and Cycle 39km + bonus 3.6km run.

When is the event on Sunday 22 March 2026?

Schedule: 6:00am bib collection, Marathon starts 7:00am, Half Marathon 7:15am, 10km 7:30am, 5km 9:30am, 2km 10:15am. Event hub music 7:00am–1:00pm. Course closes 1:00pm.

Where does the event start and finish?

Start and finish at Wangaratta Showgrounds. The multi-sport course includes run, kayak on Lake William Hovell, and cycle with finish at Powers Lookout.

Do I need to bring my own kayak and bike?

Supported craft can be arranged; contact the Race Director if you need assistance or will act as a support crew.

Is support crew allowed?

Yes—solo participants are encouraged to arrange support for kit transport. If you have a support crew, please notify the Race Director in advance.
