About

A scenic 13-mile fell and trail race starting at Lowther Castle with about 1400ft of ascent, crossing Askham Fell, the Lowther Valley, and finishing back at the castle. Organised by volunteers with all proceeds after expenses donated to Eden Valley Hospice.

The race uses SPORTident timing. Competitors may run with a dog canicross style but the dog must be on a lead at all times and runners must not allow their dogs to impede others. The route passes through fields with livestock; be sensible with dogs on a lead.

FAQ

Do I need to collect a race number or get a timing chip?

The event uses SPORTident timing. Each competitor receives a SIAC (contactless timing card) attached to the wrist to record times at the two timing points and at the finish.

Is there a minimum age?

Yes. The minimum age is 18 on the day of the race under FRA Rules.

Is entry available on the day?

No. There is NO ENTRY ON THE DAY. Entries close at 22:00 the evening before the event.

Can I run with my dog?

Yes, dogs are allowed canicross style but must be on a lead at all times and must not impede other competitors. The route passes fields with livestock, so please be sensible.

What should I wear given the route conditions?

Trail shoes are recommended; some sections are on rough ground. You must carry a lightweight raintop and full leg cover if weather is wet and windy.
