About
The Moonlight Bootlegger 5K is a unique trail race set in the beautiful Ijams Nature Center. Participants navigate through the moonlit woods, celebrating with music and moonshine cocktails at the finish. Despite the cancellation of the 2020 event due to COVID-19, the race is set to return in 2021.
Catering & aid stations
All registered participants will receive post-race food and beverages, and two moonshine drink tickets (for those over 21).
Pacers
Athletes must be equipped with either a flashlight or headlamp to participate! The race is chip-timed, and awards will be given to the top 3 overall males and females as well as to the top 3 finishers in age divisions.

FAQ
How old do I have to be to participate?
This is a fun-for-all-ages event. As long as you can run/walk a 5k, you can be a part of this fun event! We expect families and college students alike. If you are under 18, you will need a parent or guardian to sign a waiver before you can run. If you are under 21 you will not be allowed to partake in the alcoholic drinks after the event, but you can still compete for prizes! If you are under 12, you will also need a responsible adult to participate with you in the run.
Do I have to be an amazing athlete to do a Moonlight Bootlegger 5K race?
The Bootlegger is made to be not only a competitive trail race but also a fun for all adventure run! Come out and go for the gold and glory or walk/run the 5k and enjoy the music afterwards.
What is included in your registration cost?
With your registration you will get a unique bootlegger 5k shirt, two complimentary drinks, a custom Bootlegger mason jar, and a ticket to the live music after party!
What should I wear?
Dress in something comfortable to run in. Wearing something fluorescent is a good idea, just to ensure you can be easily seen by the other runners.
Should I Bring Anything Else?
Some type of illumination device is required by each athlete! Each person must have either a flashlight or a headlamp handy in order to compete as the course will not be lit. Bring a picture ID to registration and in order to get a drink after the event. You also may consider bringing along a designated driver. Trivium Racing will only provide two beverages per person, but better safe than sorry.
What happens if it rains?
We will postpone the event as far into the evening as allowed by our permits. Trust us, we want this event to happen as much as you do and we will do everything we can to make sure the show goes on! If we do have to cancel on the day of, we will not be able to offer refunds. Rain will not cancel the event, but severe storms may.
