About

The Mountain Fork Half Marathon is a 13.6-mile race that starts and finishes at the High Knob Observation Tower in Wise County, looping through the scenic Mountain Fork watershed on Forest Service roads. The race is set in the Cumberland Mountains with panoramic views from the High Knob Observation Tower and supports trail development on the Flag Rock Area Trails.

Catering & aid stations

On-course aid stations are located at approximately 2.3-, 5-, 7.8-, and 11.5-mile markers. The 5-mile and 7.8-mile stations will also offer fruit. Please help volunteers by disposing of cups near the roadside to avoid steep hillside collection.

Pacers

Pacemaker groups will be set per Startwelle at the 2026 Race Day for Laufende. Pacer flags will be displayed for each target wave to help pacers stay aligned with their assigned groups.
