The 12th Annual Run for the Ring 5K Run/Walk & Kids Fun Run brings together Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes patients, loyal supporters, and running enthusiasts to run for the brass ring — the cure. All proceeds support the Children’s Diabetes Foundation.

Pacers will be available for the 5K Run/Walk. Refer to the event schedule on race day for pacer start times (start waves) and to identify pacers by their pacer flags at the start/finish areas.

What is Run for the Ring?

Run for the Ring 5K Run/Walk and Kids Fun Run brings together Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes patients, loyal supporters, and running enthusiasts to run for the brass ring — the cure. All proceeds support the Children’s Diabetes Foundation.

When and where is Run for the Ring?

Run for the Ring 2026 is on Saturday, August 1st. Registration begins at 7 a.m. The Kids’ Zone opens at 8 a.m., and the 5K also begins at 8 a.m. The Kids Fun Run begins directly after the 5K Awards Ceremony. The event is held at The Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes on the CU Anschutz Medical Campus: 1775 Aurora Court, Aurora, Colorado 80045.

What is included in registration?

Registration for both the 5K and Fun Run includes breakfast bites, a timing chip (5K only), race bib, and a Run for the Ring souvenir t-shirt. Those with type 1 diabetes can add a special “I’m the 1” t-shirt, and all can decorate a back bib that says “Running for my 1.” Sleep-In Registration includes a performance t-shirt mailed to the participant.

Can I form a team?

Yes! Create a unique team name, fun t-shirt, or matching costumes to enjoy race day with friends, family, or co-workers.

How do I become a fundraiser?

The Run for the Ring isn’t just for fun — it’s also an opportunity to make a difference. Use the provided tips to set up your fundraising page and share it with friends and family.

How can I volunteer?

Volunteer for the 5K and Kids Fun Run at the Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes. Shifts are available and volunteers receive a free CDF Volunteer t-shirt. Email Sydney@ChildrensDiabetesFoundation.org for details.

Are there awards for runners?

Yes. Winners are recognized at the Awards Ceremony after the 5K for categories including Overall Winners (Men, Women, Non-Binary), Top Individual Fundraiser, Largest Team, and top age group and T1D winners. Awards also recognize top fundraisers and teams.

How can I honor my type 1 hero?

Purchase a personalized yard sign honorarium to place along the race course. Signs are set up by event staff and can be taken home after the race (purchase by July 19th).
