A scenic Olympic-distance triathlon on the California coast hosted on a nonprofit basis to benefit UCSB and local charities, combining a challenging bike course with a beachfront run and ocean swim.
On-course aid includes boxed breakfast at T1, water and electrolyte stations on the bike, and hydration/nutrition stations on the run. Porta potties and bathrooms available in the transition area and at East Beach Bathhouse.
Pacemaker / Pacer: Yes — Corrals are seeded by estimated time (SB45, SB35, SB25, SB10, SB10 P/C). Start waves align with listed start times; pacers help maintain even pacing and observe no-pass zones on the bike. Refer to event app/website for specific pacer assignments and RTF per wave.
Monthly averages based on historical data (2000–present).
Rolling, time-trial starts: athletes self-seed into corrals by estimated swim time and leave the beach two swimmers at a time every 5 seconds. Heats begin at 6:40 AM (ocean swim), 7:00 AM (SB45), 7:30 AM (SB35), 8:15 AM (SB10), and 8:20 AM (SB25/SB10 PC). Bike course features a no-pass zone; run uses timed chip segments.
