FAQ

What are the summits of the 4 Peaks Alta Badia challenge called and how high are they?

Sas dla Crusc - Santa Croce (2907 m), Piza dales Diesc - Cima Dieci (3026 m), Lavarela (3055 m) and Conturines (3064 m). The competition itinerary starts at the hospice of Santa Croce and ends at the Capanna Alpina mountain hut. An amazing Alpine crossing, covering the entire eastern side of Alta Badia.

What’s the difference between “Alta Badia Mountaineer” and “Alta Badia Finisher”?

Who climbs the 4 Peaks within one single day is rewarded with the title of “Alta Badia Mountaineer”, who accomplishes the challenge in two days earns the title “Alta Badia Finisher”. It is recommended to embark on the adventure in the company of others and not alone. It is also important to monitor the weather conditions, ascertaining that they will be favourable for the entire day of your venture.

Who established the climbing routes on the Sas dla Crusc - Santa Croce western face?

The western face of the Sas dla Crusc - Santa Croce offers numerous climbing tracks for experienced alpinists. The most famous one is the “Great Wall”, established by a certain Reinhold Messner in the company of Hans Frisch in 1969.

What do I need to carry along to best tackle the 4 Peaks?

It is essential to be equipped with an appropriate climbing gear (harness, carabiners, helmet and gloves), appropriate technical clothing, enough food and water supplies, a map of the trails, a mobile phone, a list of the most important numbers and the 4 Peaks card.

Does the 4 Peaks challenge call for hit-and-runs?

Definitely not. The challenge is for experienced climbers who want to prove themselves while respecting the basic rules of mountain climbing: safety, caution, respect. 4 Peaks is a sort of hands-on meditation amidst the breathtaking backdrop of the Dolomites.
