FAQ

Do I still need to bring a sleeping bag and bivy?

Yes. All participants must have a mandatory kit including a sleeping bag (rated 0°F or lower) and a bivy sack at check-in, at the start, and at the finish.

Can I use a backpack or must I pull a sled?

A backpack is allowed because the course is shorter, but all gear must fit inside. A sled is recommended if there is adequate snow.

What if I need to go to the bathroom?

Step off the trail to relieve yourself. Do not leave human waste on the trail; it is disrespectful to St. Croix State Park and other competitors. Use a sealed bag for toilet paper and dispose of it in a trash can.

The forecast is warm. Do I still need a sleeping bag rated at 0°F (or lower)?

Yes. The 0°F rating ensures safety in varying conditions; weather forecasts are not always accurate. This rating is consistent with winter ultra expectations.

I have some blinky lights for city running. Are they acceptable?

No. Unless you are using heavy-duty bike taillights, standard running lights are not bright enough for this event due to snowmobiles and weather.
