A popular community run & walk in Ōhope, Whakatāne, offering flat, fast courses on road, footpath, grass and trails with options from 1 km to 21.1 km and post-event festivities at Port Ōhope Wharf.

Catering & aid stations

Water at all aid stations on 5km, 10km, and 21km; electrolyte drinks (SOS) at finish and selected 10km/21km aid stations. No cups provided — bring your own reusable cup or purchase a collapsible cup from FuelMe stand ($7).

FAQ

When are entries open?

Entries open on 1 October 2025 and remain open until midnight on 29 January 2026 (or until sold out). Late entries available at race registration on a first-come, first-served basis.

How do I enter?

Register via the event page on the Sun to Surf website or the provided registration link.

Can I transfer my entry?

Yes — before 11:59pm on 7 January 2026 the transfer fee is €10; between 8 January and 23 January 2026 it is €15. No transfers after 23 January 2026.

Is there race insurance?

Yes — add XCover during initial registration for refund protection against unforeseen circumstances. XCover must be purchased at registration and cannot be added later.

Are pets allowed?

No — pets are not permitted except for registered service dogs.

What about kit/bag drop?

No bag drop service is provided; please arrange securekeeping with a friend/family or leave valuables at home.

What measures are in place for toilets and aid stations?

Toilets are available near the start/finish and along the course adjacent to every aid station. This is a cupless event — bring your own reusable cup.
