About

A spectacular journey along Taupō’s Great Lake Trail — an epic ultra offering 100km, 100km team relay, 70km, 50km run/walk and 24km run/walk showcasing lake views, rugged mountains, rivers, waterfalls and native New Zealand bush. The event concludes with the iconic glass finisher medal.

Catering & aid stations

On-course aid stations are stocked with lollies, gingernuts, chips, pretzels, sandwiches (peanut butter or vegemite), bananas and oranges, water, R-Line electrolyte drink and coke. No disposable cups — bring your own reusable cup, drink bottle or hydration bladder.

Pacers

Pacers are strongly encouraged for the 100km last section (Kinloch to Whakaipo Bay). Pacers must be registered entrants; see the PACERS page for full details on wave starts and requirements.

What are the age limits for the event?

100km, 70km and 50km: Children aged 17 and under need prior approval. 24km: Children aged 14 and under need prior approval.

Is there a pacer policy?

Pacers are encouraged for the 100km final section and must be registered entrants with assigned start waves and pacer flags — see the PACERS page.

What is the course measurement accuracy?

Courses are measured by vehicle and GPS; GPS watches typically show 5–10% less distance than the actual course.
