About

The Roof of Africa is the original hard enduro — a three-day mountain challenge through the Maloti Mountains of Lesotho. It features live tracking, on-site medical support, and a full expedition experience with sunrise to sunset riding each day.

Catering & aid stations

On-course fuel and nutrition provided at all USPs and finish areas. Dedicated fuel shuttle service available throughout each mountain day.

Pacers

Pacer flags and designated pacers are deployed across each class start wave to support riders during the mountain stages. Pacers are detailed in the Race Day information and event programme.

FAQ

Is there a qualifying event required to enter the Roof of Africa?

No qualifying event is required from 2025 onwards. Riders must be a minimum of 16 years old on event date. Riders aged 14–15 may compete in selected classes with additional conditions and recommendations.

What motorcycle classes are available?

Classes include Gold (any capacity), Silver (125–250cc two-stroke / 150–250cc four-stroke), Bronze (125–250cc two-stroke / 150–250cc four-stroke), and Iron (125–250cc two-stroke / 150–250cc four-stroke). All require a valid FIM-style licence and GPS.

Do I need a service crew?

Yes — at least one personal service crew member is required to transport fuel, hydration, and nutrition to designated USPs on each mountain day.

Where can I book accommodation?

Accommodation can be booked anywhere within the Maseru district (including Roma) for the 2026 event; the start/finish will be confirmed closer to event date near Maseru.
