About
Central Illinois’ premier running experience and a 50-year community tradition — a world-class, fast flat 4 Mile and challenging 15K along the Illinois River in downtown Peoria.
Pacers
Pacemakers will be announced on the start day for both the 4 Mile and 15K. Pacers display flags to identify their pace group and set target times per wave shown at the event schedule. Their role is to help runners maintain a steady, goal-pace effort. Runners must remain visible on the front of their body and follow pacer guidance in their designated wave.

FAQ
Can someone else use my entry?
No. Sorry for the inconvenience, but the lawyers have our hands tied on this one. But you can TRANSFER your registration to a different person. Click here for step-by-step transfer instructions. Deadline for transfers is Thursday, 6/4 at 5PM.
Can I switch races?
Of course. To change your race selection, please go to the TRANSFER page and follow the instructions. Or you can email info@steamboatclassic.com and they can help switch you. Please let race management know as soon as possible if you would like to change races. Click here for step-by-step transfer instructions.Deadline for transfers is Thursday, 6/4 at 5PM.
Can I get a refund?
No. There are no refunds, but you can ask for a deferral to the 2027 event.
I want to change my shirt size, can I?
Yes. If you have already registered and you want to CHANGE your shirt cut/size, all you need to do is log into your Race Roster account and go to the Steamboat Classic dashboard. Select "Edit Registration=" to change your shirt cut/size. Select "Save." Shirt size can only be changed if there is inventory remaining in other sizes. Register EARLY to guarantee your shirt cut and size! Click here for step-by-step edit registration instructions.
Where are the restrooms?
Women’s and men’s restrooms are located on Water Street. There are additional restroom’s at the Gateway Building.
Will there be water stops?
4 Mile – 4 water stops available15K – 6 water stops available (2 in the 3-loop section of the course)
How is my time determined?
The Steamboat Classic utilizes the MYLAPS timing system to provide participants with split times and finish time. Each participant will be issued a race number with timing chip attached. The number MUST be VISIBLY worn on the FRONT during the race. Participants finishing without their race number will not be timed or eligible for any awards. Overall awards are determined by “GUN TIME” and age group awards are determined by “CHIP TIME.”
Will there be mile markers on the course? Will there be split points?
4 Mile – Marker at each mile and 5K, Split time recorded at 2 Miles15K – Marker at each mile and 5K and 10K, Split times recorded at 5K and 10K
Can I wear headphones?
For your safety and the safety of all of our participants, headphones are not allowed.
What should I wear for the race?
Please VISIBLY wear your race number on the front of your body. This allows accuracy for our timers which leads to better results for you! Steamboat is normally a ‘steamy’ day, so dress accordingly for the weather conditions.
Can I bring my dog?
As much as we love our four legged friends, they create a safety hazard for other participants. Please leave your dog at home on Steamboat Classic day!
Can I bring my stroller?
We encourage family participation, but strollers create a hazard for other participants. If your child isn’t ready for the 4 Mile, please have a caregiver who can hang with them while you run (or jog or walk).
