Come explore the many facets of New Zealand’s natural beauty on the Waikato River Trails. The Taniwha offers multiple distance options from 7km to 42.2km across trail and road run/walk segments, with mountain bike and duathlon choices, set against native bush, exotic forest, historic landmarks and lakes.
On-course aid stations offer water, R-Line electrolyte drinks, and some stations provide Coke, chips, fruit, and lollies.
Pacers set target times per start wave displayed on the Timetrail platform to help runners maintain goal pace.
The event base/ finish is at Whakamaru Mi-Camp (Hirurangi Island, Kinleith). Collect your race number at the South Waikato Sport & Events Centre on Friday 22 May, 4:00–8:00pm. MTB riders who booked the bus must attend Friday to drop off their bikes.
The event follows all Government COVID-19 guidelines and requirements that are in force at the time of the event.
You have 7 hours 50 minutes to complete the marathon; cut-off at 20km is 11:30am.
Aid stations are located at 11km, 20km, 26km, 31km, and 37km with water, R-Line electrolyte drinks, and some food.
Children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult. Age restrictions vary by distance; see entry fees and individual distance pages.
