About
The OBX Towne Bank Marathon is the oldest continuously running road race in the Outer Banks. The marathon course is fast and flat, taking runners from Fort Raleigh National Historic Site through Manteo along the sound side of Roanoke Island with a post-race celebration featuring live music, southern barbecue, and a beer garden. The weekend includes a two-day sports and fitness expo with packet pickup.
Catering & aid stations
Hydration stations approximately every 2 miles with Gatorade, GU energy gels, Pickle Juice, and water. Porta potties located at start/finish and adjacent to every water stop.
Pacers
Pace groups are offered on race day to help you achieve your goals. Target times per Startwelle include 3:00 and 3:15 h. Pacers wear Pacerflaggen and are included in the entry fee when stated.

FAQ
Can I register on the day of the race?
No; last registration opportunity is one day before the event; registration closes one hour before the expo closes. Packet pickup required before race day; no pickup on race day.
What will I get with my registration fee?
Your race category determines your finisher medal; all finishers receive a race t-shirt, medal, and a few other finisher items/swag.
What if I can't make it on race day?
Options: transfer your bib to someone else, or switch your registered event. Deferrals are not offered; all registrations are final and non-transferable.
Will I receive a refund if I cannot attend?
No refunds under any circumstances; not even if the race is canceled. Race insurance may apply.
Can someone else run with my race bib?
No; you may officially transfer your bib to another person for a $25 fee. Unofficial use is grounds for disqualification and bans.
When can I pick up my race packet?
Expo & packet pickup: Friday Nov 6 (1-7 p.m.) and Saturday Nov 7 (11 a.m.–4 p.m.) at Ramada Plaza Nags Head; no pickup on race day.
Can someone else pick up my packet for me?
Yes; the authorized person must have their own photo ID, a signed and printed authorization form, and a copy of your photo ID.
Will there be an awards ceremony?
Yes; awards for 1st–3rd place male and female in each race category; individual age group medals are mailed after the race.
Where will my results be posted?
Results are posted on the event website; QR code on your bib links to results.
Will there be port-a-potties on the course?
Yes; port-a-potties approximately every 2 miles adjacent to water stops.
Will there be hydration and energy gels on the course?
Yes; hydration stations every ~2 miles with Gatorade, GU energy gels, Pickle Juice, and water.
What are the age limits for each race?
Fun Run: all ages; 5K and 8K: 6+; all others: 16+. No strollers, pets, baby joggers; no headphones; time limits vary.
Are there pacers?
Yes; pacers with target times (e.g., 3:00 and 3:15 h) and Pacerflaggen; included in entry fee when stated.
