About
Vansbrosimningen is one of the world’s oldest and largest open-water swimming events, taking place in the scenic Dalälven river in Vansbro, Sweden, held annually from late June to early July.
Catering & aid stations
Booths along the course provide warm and cold drinks, food, and recovery supplies; finish area offers fruit, snacks, and beverages.
Pacers
Pacemaker groups exist per distance on the Sunday race program. Refer to the published ‘Renntag für Laufende’ start wave target times and pace-flag markers; pacers wear flags and announce splits to help swimmers stay on pace.

What distances are offered?
3000 m, 1000 m, 6 km, and 2.5 km.
When is the event?
Main event runs Friday 3 July through Sunday 4 July 2026; overall festival runs 27 June – 4 July 2026.
Do I need to qualify or have a specific time?
No qualification required; there is a self-seeding system based on your estimated swim time for the 3000 m.
Is there catering and support along the course?
Yes, there are food and drink booths along the route and a recovery zone at the finish.
