The Weston Creek Athletics Club’s iconic half marathon, held annually in March, serves as a popular trial for the Canberra Marathon. The event features an undulating bike-path course with no road crossings, offering scenic views over Lake Burley Griffin, while the 10K Fun Run provides a community-friendly option.
Catering & aid stations
Food, drinks and fruit are available after the race. Water at the two drink stations is provided in small bottles to minimise Covid risk (taken on course twice).
Pacers
The course is an undulating bike-path loop with no road crossovers; bike-path rules apply. Pacers will be present on the course and at the start/finish and will be identified by flags. Note that bike-path sections require dismounting in parts and runners must yield to cyclists.

Are there drink stations?
Yes, there are two drink stations on the course (at the 4 km and 8 km marks), each served twice during the event. Water is provided in small bottles to reduce waste and comply with health guidelines.
Is the event chip-timed?
Yes, electronic timing is used and results are available on your phone immediately after finishing.
What medals are awarded?
Engraved Canberra Redbacks medals are awarded to all finishers, with additional awards for half marathon age group winners. The half marathon male and female winners take home the perpetual trophy for 12 months.
