A community-focused running festival on the Wollongong coast offering a half marathon, 10km, 5km fun run and a kids 2km fun run with accurate timing, measured courses and post-race celebrations.

Pacers

Wollongong Running Festival uses pacers to support runners in each wave. Sub-90 minute runners are encouraged to start at the front for a smoother experience for everyone.

    How much is event registration?

    When registering, where do I choose my Wave/starting position?

    This year, there will be no wave starts as the expanded road closures provide plenty of space on the course. Sub-90 minute runners are encouraged to start at the front for a smoother experience for everyone.

    What are the start times for each race?

    Can I register on race day?

    Yes, you can register on race day. However, spots will be limited as events sell out, so we recommend registering before 28 May, 2025.

    What happens if the event sells out?

    Entry limits apply to each distance. Once an event is sold out, no additional entries will be available, so we encourage registering early.

    Can I obtain a refund?

    Yes, up until 2 months before the event. Please contact info@wollongongrunningfestival.com to do this.

    Can I transfer my registration to another event?

    Yes, up until 2 weeks before the event. Please contact info@wollongongrunningfestival.com to do this. We don’t offer transfers within 2 weeks of the event or if the event has sold out.

    Can I transfer my registration to someone else?

    Unfortunately, we cannot transfer your race entry to someone else.

    Is there a minimum age to participate?

    Yes. Minimum age requirements apply:Half Marathon: 16 years+10km: 13 years+5km: 10 years+2km: Runners must be aged between 5-12 years old.

    When can I pick up my Race Bib?

    To ensure a smooth start on race day, we strongly recommend arranging your race bib in advance.You can have your bib delivered straight to your door – just make sure to select postage before the cut-off date so it arrives on time. Race bibs will be posted 2 weeks before race day, and names on bibs are finalised 3 weeks before race day.Alternatively, you can collect your bib in person from Novotel Wollongong North Beach.     Will there be medals for finishers?

    Yes! All finishers across all distances will receive a medal at the finish line.

    Can I run with a pram?

    Prams are permitted in the 2km and 5km events only.Prams are not permitted in the Half Marathon and 10km events. For safety reasons, we kindly ask pram participants to start at the very back of the race group to ensure the safety of all runners.

    Will there be cut off times?

    Yes. Due to course management and road closure restrictions, there will be cut off times. 10km: 3 hoursHM: 3 hours 5km: 1 hour 15 minutes 2km: 30 minutesThis means the course will officially be closed at 10:00am.

    Will there be water stations on course?

    Yes. There will be four hydration stations throughout the course where runners can collect water as they run past. All aid stations will have electrolytes and gels provided by our Official Fuelling Partner, PURE Sports Nutrition. These stations will be located at the following locations:City Beach Surfclub (east side)North Wollongong SurfclubFairy Meadow Surf Club*Finish Line (water and fruit will be available)

    How do I enter a team in the Wollongong Running Festival?

    You can register a team online by selecting “Create a Team” during registration or joining an existing one.

    Is there a minimum or maximum number of team members?

    No minimum—bring as many teammates as you like! The more, the merrier (and the better your chances of winning prizes).

    Can we wear team shirts?

    We expect nothing less! Customise your outfits to stand out from the crowd, wear your run club’s merch or rep your school uniform.

    Does every team member have to run the same distance?

    Nope! Team members can choose different distances—it’s all about participation.

    When do I need to be available?

    Volunteers will need to be available on Sunday 1 June 2025 to help the event run smoothly. Shifts and roles will be allocated depending on your skills and what is required on the day.

    How long will my shift be?

    Volunteers will need to be available between 6am-11am on Sunday 1 June. Specific shift times and lengths will be allocated closer to the event date.

    I’ve never volunteered before - is this okay?

    No prior experience is necessary, as clear guidance will be provided to ensure all volunteers feel confident and prepared for their roles.

    How will I know my role?

    Volunteer information and resources will be sent out to all volunteers in May. We will make sure you have everything you need to have fun and feel supported on the day.

    Can I volunteer with my friends?

    Yes! Let us know if you have friends that you would like to be stationed with on the day. Whilst we will do our best to keep you together, we can not guarantee that you will be with all your buddies.

    Do I need to be over 16 to volunteer?

    Yes. All volunteers must be above the age of 16.

    What do I get from being a volunteer?

    In addition to the satisfaction of making a meaningful contribution to the community, volunteers will receive a special edition cap, as well as food and beverage during their shift.

    Can I get my race bib before the event?

    You are encouraged to pick up your bib before the event. Pick up venue to be confirmed. Online registrations will be closed however registrations can still be purchased in person at Bib pick up. Bib collection will be available on the following days:Friday May 30: From 10:00-6:00pmSaturday May 31: From 8:00am – 12:00pmVenue: To be confirmedNOTE: Times are subject to change.

    Can I get my race bib on the day?

    Where can I find my photos from the race?

    We are teaming up with RaceAtlas to bring you your race day photos on the same day as the event! You can check for your photos here:https://raceatlas.com/?event=wollongong-running-festival You will receive a text message as soon as photos have been added to your gallery and then again once all of your photos have been processed.     Will there be bag drop?

    We will have a dedicated area for bag drop and collection post race. We don’t encourage you to leave valuables.

    Where do I go for lost property?

    Any lost and found will be taken to the registration tent for collection.

    Is there a cut-off time for the Half Marathon?

    Yes. Due to course management and road closure restrictions, the Half Marathon will have a maximum completion time of 3 hours. This means the course will officially be closed at 10:05am.
