GEER (Grit, Endurance, Exploration, Resilience) is a multi-distance mountain event in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains with 40, 20, and 10-mile options. The course features significant elevation gain/loss on single-track and jeep roads with breathtaking ridge-line views.
Aid stations are well stocked with water, Gatorade electrolyte drink, ice, single-serve and pre-packaged food including sweet and salty items, fruit, candies, gummies, GU vanilla gels, chips, and pretzels. No on-course catering for hot meals; bring personal nutrition.
Pacers may run behind or in front of their runner and must sign a waiver. Pacers may not carry items for their runners (no muling). Crews can only be met at specified locations: Sherando Lake Recreation Area, Bald Mountain Overlook (Blue Ridge Parkway) and Kennedy Ridge Trail on Coal Road. Dedicated pacer pickup points: Bald Mountain Overlook and Kennedy Ridge Trail. All pacers and crews must follow race rules, use caution on roads and single-track, and ensure safe assistance.
Monthly averages based on historical data (2000–present).
