About
A signature event of the Kentucky Derby Festival featuring a marathon and miniMarathon that draw more than 10,000 runners each spring through Louisville’s neighborhoods and past Churchill Downs.
Catering & aid stations
Water stops and Powerade stations are provided on the course by Louisville Water Company and Powerade. Aid stations offer food and drink; pacing groups will walk or take fluids at stations as scheduled. No cotton; use moisture-wicking clothing. Trash bags are available at aid stations.
Pacers
The Pacers from Dick’s Sporting Goods will lead target finish groups from the Marathon and miniMarathon. Pacers will be available for Marathon finish times including 3:10, 3:20, 3:30, 3:40, 3:50, 4:00, 4:15, 4:30, 4:45, 5:00, 5:15, 5:30, 5:45, and 6:00. For the miniMarathon: 1:40, 1:45, 1:50, 1:55, 2:00, 2:10, 2:20, 2:30, 2:40, 2:50, and 3:15. Pacers will carry Pacerflaggen and groups aim to maintain even splits; pacer-led entry fees apply where indicated at registration.

FAQ
When and where is the Expo and packet pickup?
The Expo is at Freedom Hall, Kentucky Exposition Center (KEC). Packet pickup is Thursday, April 23, 2026, 4:00–8:00 PM and Friday, April 24, 2026, 11:00 AM–8:00 PM.
Can a friend pick up my packet if I can’t attend?
Yes, a friend can pick up your packet using the QR code sent in your registration email.
Are there time limits and pace requirements?
Yes. The marathon has a 6-hour limit; the miniMarathon has a 4-hour limit. Maintain a 13:45/mile pace for the marathon and 15:00/mile for the miniMarathon; the roads will reopen behind you.
What should I wear for weather and chafing?
Choose lightweight, moisture-wicking, light-colored clothing. Wear a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and apply Body Glide to prevent chafing. Trash bags are recommended while waiting.
