FAQ

Does my current GOTR or Heart & Sole participant need to register for the 5K?

No. This season's program participants DO NOT need to register and they run for FREE.

Where can I find the Event Guide?

Check back on May 1 for the Event Guide.

How do I know which 5K my child should attend?

Both Spring 5K events take place on May 31, 2026. All teams in Cumberland, Androscoggin, Sagadahoc, and Lincoln Counties attend the Morning 5K at 9 a.m. Arrival, 10 a.m. Start. Teams in all other counties attend the Afternoon 5K at 1 p.m. Arrival, 2 p.m. Start.

What is the pace for the 5K?

The course is 3.1 miles. Our fastest participants complete it in about 25 minutes, while most cross the finish line in 30–55 minutes. The event is non-competitive and participants are encouraged to go at their own happy pace.

Is it required for GOTR/H&S participants to attend the 5K?

We strongly encourage all participants to attend and complete the 5K, as it is the season's goal and builds confidence. This is also a great opportunity for first-time participants, coaches, friends, and family to celebrate together.

Can additional family members or community members participate in the 5K?

Yes. Family, friends, and community members outside the program must register to participate.

Will there be merchandise at the 5K?

Yes. A merchandise booth/tent will be available. Limited quantities of the 2026 5K shirt will be sold for $25. Credit cards are accepted for purchases of $10 and up.

What safety measures are in place?

Every participant must wear a race bib (provided by the council). The council monitors the course and conducts head counts to ensure everyone crosses the finish line. Staff and volunteers are trained on emergency response.

Is the 5K course accessible for people with disabilities?

Yes. The event is for everyone and participants can walk, run, push, or roll at their own happy pace.

Will there be additional activities at the 5K?

Yes. The event includes face painting, hair bows, temporary tattoos, bling-your-bib stations, and more.

Will there be a registration price increase on event day?

Yes. Registration increases by $5 on the event day.
