Is Gravel n Granite 2026 going ahead?
No - Gravel n Granite will not go ahead in 2026.This was a difficult decision, made due to continued uncertainty around fuel availability and pricing, cost of living pressures, and increasingly dry conditions across the region. All registered riders will receive a full refund and have been contacted directly. Refunds will be processed over the coming weeks. We’ll still be hosting a social ride over the same weekend and would love riders to join us if they’re in Tenterfield. The event will return 5–7 March 2027.Is anything still happening 16 & 17 May 2026? Yes - we’ll be hosting a social ride over the same weekend. If you’ve already booked your trip (or just want to come for a ride), we’d love you to still come and enjoy the weekend in Tenterfield. It will be a relaxed, non-competitive ride with a chance to connect with other riders and experience the region. More details will be shared soon. What type of surface is the event run on?
Courses include a mix of gravel roads, National Park fire trails and bitumen. Some sections are rough and rutted, particularly on the 91km and 66km courses. Riders should be comfortable on mixed terrain and variable road conditions.Riders should ensure they have the fitness, technical ability and experience required for their chosen course. What bike should I ride?
Gravel n Granite welcomes gravel bikes, mountain bikes, e-bikes and adaptive bikes - but bike choice matters.Mountain bikes are strongly recommended for the 91km Range Rumble and 66km Wellington Rocks due to rough fire trails and technical sections. If riding a gravel bike, wide tyres (the wider the better) and suitable gearing for sustained climbs are essential. The 38km course is well suited to both gravel and mountain bikes, while the Mt Mackenzie Frenzy is fully bitumen and suitable for road bikes.Riders should ensure they have the fitness, technical ability and experience required for their chosen course. Do I need to be an AusCycling Member? Yes. All riders must either: Hold a current AusCycling membership, or Purchase a Weekend Licence ($8.80) Weekend licences can be added during registration. Insurance coverage is provided through AusCycling in accordance with their policy terms. Riders are responsible for ensuring that their level of insurance coverage suits their personal circumstances. All participants ride at their own risk.If you register as an AusCycling member, you will be required to present your current membership at rider check-in. Riders unable to provide proof of membership will need to purchase a Weekend Licence before collecting their race plate. Is Gravel n Granite a race? Gravel n Granite includes timed courses and podium categories - but the spirit of the event is challenge over competition. Many riders participate to test themselves, ride with mates and enjoy the full weekend experience. It’s serious gravel riding, without the ego.Are the roads open to traffic? Yes. Sections of all courses operate on open public roads and through National Parks. Traffic control is in place for open public roads. Riders must obey all road rules and exercise caution at all times. Some fire trails may be rough and uneven. What medical support is in place?
