Yes. The mandatory kit consists of equipment that could potentially save your life. If you are injured and cannot move to keep warm, it is amazing how quickly you cool down and start to get the onset of hypothermia. Therefore, please check the kit requirements carefully and make sure you carry all items. (There is a random check in some races)
Sorry, no we had to stop runners from taking their dogs on races due to livestock in fields. Dogs are not allowed in the race HQs either
No. Please check our Terms & Conditions before booking a race
Here is the link to the Cleveland Way shop: https://shop.nationaltrail.co.uk/collections/cleveland-way
Yes, you do this yourself via SI entries, but only up until 4 weeks before the race for ultras and 3 weeks in the 26.2 series.N.B. This can only be done once the race is full
We endeavour to ensure that our risk assessments cover all eventualities so that a participant is never in danger from bad weather during a race. This means that the participant must take responsibility for their kit : i.e. wear appropriate clothing and carry suitable mandatory kit for safety reasons. We liaise closely with the local Mountain Rescue Teams to gain their expertise and advise and heed their reccommentations as to whether a race should be cancelled or curtailed. Following this advice we may cancel but we do this as a last resort.
If a race is cancelled at the last minute we may not be able to give refunds as most expenses will already have been incurred. T shirts, medals, food, race venue, trophies, portable toilets, etc are all paid for in advance. We will offer another race date or other solution, but do our finances and if possible will give a refund where possible, but this is not guaranteed.
We carry period products at all checkpoints and the start and finish venuesIf you need to breast feed your baby during the race, we will accommodate thisIf you find you are pregnant after you have entered a race, we offer deferral for up to two years after the baby is born (please ask up to 4 weeks prior to the event)All runners may have a support runner during hours of darkness. This will vary from race to race, so check individual race information
On ultra races (apart from the 30), you will have a tracker which means we can locate you at any given time. We monitor the trackers and will call you if you seem to be getting lost and give you instructions of how to get back on trackYou can also check your own tracker route as you runWe provide maps, detailed route descriptions and GPX files for all races
We always have full medical support who roam the course and support the race with an emergency vehicleThe emergency first aid and also the race director phone number are printed on your race bib, so you can call at any time for assistance
Firstly - we call them bandanas because "Buff=" is a registered trademark and our bandanas are not made by "Buff=" (at the moment). To answer the question: in the summer, a bandana can be used as a hat, but if we ask for a hat on the mandatory kit, then we mean a beanie or woolly hat that will keep you warm. So - all 26.2 races can use a bandana, but all ultras (including the 15, but excluding the 40, will need a proper hat to be put in your pack, for emergency use. If in doubt - take a hat. They don't weigh much.
Yes, you need to print these off yourself and carry them. You may have the GPX etc on your phone, but what would you do if your phone battery dies? We do ask that these are used on every race apart from the Turnpike Trot and Rabbit Run which is fully marked.
On an uktra, yes, but they must not carry any of your equipment for you as this would give you an unfair advantage. Also – they should not run the whole event with you for free! The individual race information will tell you from where your friend may run. We positively encourage a running "buddy=" during hours of darkness. On a marathon/half/10k: NO!
The Hardmoors 200 which goes from Hull to Filey via the Wolds Way and the Cleveland Way
The Hardmoors series has 10ks and in conjunction with the North York Moors Centre at Danby we have a 10k for over 16s and a 5k which you can run if you are over 14
Yes – we always provide food of various kinds, ranging from crisps and cakes on the marathons, to soup or stew on the ultras
We endeavour to have gluten free and vegan products at main checkpoints and at the finish, but this cannot be guaranteed contamination free, so if you have any allergies please carry your own food and use the drop bag system on ultras
The marathons/half marathons and 10ks are no longer marked apart from really tricky parts, but there will be maps and race route descriptions on the website for you to download and print to carry with you. The Ultras are not marked
You will get a medal at all of our races. At the ultras you get a t shirt, but at the 160 and 200 you get a completion hoody. At the 26.2 races you can order a t-shirt for £10. You do this at when you enter via SI EntriesTo keep the price of the night races as low as possible, there is no tshirt. You have the option of planting a tree instead of receiving a tshirt, or you can have a tshirt AND plant a tree for an additional fee of £5 .

You will have to pay any additional priceIf in one of the 26.2 series races then you may NOT defer, but can sell your place to another runner up to 3 weeks prior to the race so long as the race is full
Yes, but you need to pay the difference if moving up a distance but won’t get a refund if changing down a distance. You will need to email info@hardmoors110.org.uk to do this
