The Neandertallauf in Erkrath is a popular running event through the Neander Valley, offering distances from a 5 km recreational run to a 14.065 m third-marathon course. It features age‑specific categories for children and a scenic route that highlights the area’s natural and archaeological sites.

Verpflegung & Versorgung

Aid stations on the longer courses provide water and sports drinks; snack stations offer bananas and energy bars. Shorter routes (5 km, children) have water at start/finish.

Pacer

Pacers set target times per start wave on race day (see Renntag / Startzeiten). Expected pacer finish times: 5 km ≈ 24:00 (8'/km), 14.065 km ≈ 1:18:00 (≈5'30"/km) for lead pacers; pacers will run with numbered Pacerflaggen and communicate splits at aid stations. Contact the organizer for current pacer assignments and wave-specific targets.
