FAQ

What should I bring to packet pickup/registration?

Bring your PHOTO IDENTIFICATION (ID) or a copy of your ID in order to receive your packet. A valid driver’s license or a valid passport is best. Minors are not required to show a photo ID.

Can I pick up my friend’s packet for them?

Yes! Bring a copy of their photo ID and we’ll give you their packet. Either a paper copy or digital image on a smartphone works.

Are we required to pick up our packets before race day?

No, but we strongly recommend that you do. This allows you to relax instead of waiting in a packet pickup line on race day morning.

What time should we be there on race day?

Check-in opens at 6:00 a.m. We recommend that you arrive to the venue at least 60 minutes before your start time.

When should I register for the event?

The earlier, the better. Race entry prices increase as the event date gets closer. If the event closes, there is no waiting list.

If I cannot race, can I give someone else my race number?

No. Race entries are non-transferable.

How do I know if I’m registered?

You should have received an email confirmation from the registration software. If you can’t find it, you can email info@mermaidseries.com and we will verify your participation from our registration list.

Can I get a refund?

Unfortunately, there are no refunds. However, we do have an awesome cancelation policy. Email us at info@mermaidseries.com at least 10 days prior to the event date and we’ll give you a credit toward a future race. The credit amount is your entry fee minus a $10 processing fee.

What are the age groups?

Mermaid Age Groups are currently 9 & under, 10-12, 13-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, etc. up to 95.

Do you have prizes for winners?

Yes! We will have an awards ceremony at the expo. Awards are given to the female participants for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place overall and for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners of each age group. You must be present at the awards ceremony to pick up your award. Awards will not be mailed out. We do not offer awards for male participants.

Are men allowed to compete in a Mermaid event?

Yes! Men can register and they are encouraged participate. However, men are not eligible for awards.

Do I have to wear my paper, race number?

Yes, you are required to run with your bib number. This is used for timing, identification, and race photos.

I heard this event uses Chip Timing. What is Chip Timing?

Chip timing allows us to record your time using a computer and gives the most accurate results. Your timing chip is attached to your bib.

Is the Mermaid Run hilly?

It depends on the distance you are running. The 5K is on a very flat course. The new 10K course is hilly, but the view of the Bay is spectacular. The Sirena10 mile course is hilly, but the view from the Golden Gate Bridge is even more spectacular and totally worth it.

Is there is a time limit?

It depends on the distance you are running. The 5K and 10K distances do not have a time limit. There is a time limit on the Sirena10. The Sirena

Do you have aid stations? What kind of liquid/food is on the race course?

Yes, we have plenty of aid stations that will be spaced approximately every 2 miles depending on the distance. See the course maps for aid station locations. The aid station at Mile 1.5 will have just water, all other aid stations will have water, electrolyte drink, gels and bars.

Can I run with a baby stroller?

Yes, you can run with a baby stroller. However, please start towards the back of the pack at the start line.

What is a cupless event?

As part of our sustainability initiative we are going cupless for all of our events. You can purchase a reusable silicon cup with your registration or you can bring your own.

I belong to a club or organization. Do you offer group discounts?

Yes! Have your club president or representative email us at info@mermaidseries.com to get the discount code.
