FAQ

– Unfortunately, I can no longer take part in the race and have to cancel it. What should I do?

Please refer to the rules under the point “cancellation of registration”. If you meet the conditions for reimbursement, please fill in the following questionnaire: https://forms.gle/AmqkQKFreRtAn2686 and send us your medical certificate.

– I’ve signed up for a race, but I’d like to change to a longer race or a smaller race. What do I do?

It is possible to change distance until 1ᵉʳ August, subject to places available on this race. You can make all your changes directly on our timekeeper’s website using the information you find in the confirmation email you received when you registered. Here is the link: https://in.sptiming.com/spt_25 If the desired ride is full, the change will no longer be possible. If you change for a longer distance, you will have to pay a difference. To switch to a smaller distance, we will not refund the difference (according to the conditions in our regulations). In addition, there is no longer any refund possible from July 1st. After 1 August, no further changes will be possible.

– What are the registration deadlines?

On August 1st, midnight for the 380, the 100 miles and the 100. Midnight on 15 August for the other races. Subject to availability.

– Is there a waiting list for full rides?

Indeed, a waiting list will be set up if certain races require it.

– Is accommodation in Fiesch before the race included in the entry fee?

No he’s not. This is a paid option when signing up.

– Do I need a medical certificate to take part in the SwissPeaks Trail races?

No, in Switzerland, no medical certificate is required to take part in a trail. Our races, on the other hand, require good physical fitness, specific preparation and good skills in the mountains.

– How do I register if I live abroad?

Registrations are the same, on our website, via the registration tab! Welcome!

– Is there any cancellation insurance?

Yes, for all races. This is a paid option, available for registration only. You will find information about refunds for cancellations on our website in the race rules.

– In what currency can I pay for my registration?

All rides are paid in CHF (Swiss Franc). There is a small exchange rate that your credit card issuer will specify when you register, which is done online only, by following the link indicated on the race pages.

– Is it possible to pay for the 380 in two instalments?

The option of paying in 2 instalments for the 380 may be offered in January 2025. If this is the case, we will notify you via our website.

– Where do the different races start from?

– Where can I download the “.gpx” files of the routes?

The “.gpx” and “.kml” files can be downloaded from the page of each race. Please note that courses may be adapted at any time without notice, even during the race.

– Is the route marked?

Yes, all the routes are signposted. They are essentially marked with pennants. Not many ground marking. The pennants are equipped with reflectors for the night.

– Where can you find the precise locations of the Lifebases?

In the accompanying downloadable roadbook, under the “download” tab.

– Do you have food for allergy sufferers? Gluten-free, dairy-free, etc.

No, this is not planned this year.

– How long can I stay at the life bases?

! There is no time limit in the life bases. On the other hand, be careful not to exceed the exit barrier!

– Is it possible to charge watches and phones at the life bases?

Yes, all bases are equipped with a 40 USB port. You only need to have your cables in your follower bag. No USB cables will be provided.

– Will we be able to sleep at the aid stations?

You can stop as long as you wantin the living quarters (beware of time barriers, though!). Beds will be made available. Some refreshment points also offer the chance to rest, but under no circumstances will you be allowed to stop for more than two hours.

– Is it possible to sleep elsewhere than in the lifebases? Hotel, B&B…

No, everything has been done to ensure that the comfort is sufficient and that it respects the ethics of a race like the SwissPeaks Trail. Rest in motorhomes or other solutions initiated by a third party or an accompanying person is therefore not allowed during the race and may result in penalties.

– Is there a disqualifying time barrier at each aid station?

Time barriers that are disqualifying are clearly mentioned on the race profiles. Note that there is a time barrier to enter a refreshment point or a life base, but also a time barrier to exit (in order, in particular, to allow runners to take a rest). So don’t forget to respect these as well!

– Are there any car parks in Le Bouveret? Do I have to pay for them?

Yes, there is a large paid car park at the entrance to the village of Le Bouveret. You can leave your car there for an indefinite period of time. Here is its location. We recommend that you use this car parkfor all shopping and for accompanying persons. The Bouveret shuttles will take you to the SwissPeaks Trail party venue or to the train station to catch the train, which is a 10-minute walk away. There is also a site for motorhomes. Please note that motorhomes are not allowed in the car park near the finish area and this is clearly signposted! For more information, please refer to the roadbook that comes out every year in March.

– What is the best way to get to Le Bouveret from Genève Aéroport (GVA)?

The best way to get to Le Bouveret is to take the train at Genève Aéroport, to Saint-Maurice, and then take a second train to Le Bouveret. You can find all train schedules and information on the website: https://www.sbb.ch/fr.

– How do I get to the start the day before or on the day of the race?

The day before and on the day of the race, shuttles from Le Bouveret are organized for the runners. However, it is mandatory to register to benefit from this service. Registration for these shuttles is done directly when you register for the race or via your dashboard. Through partnerships with the Regionalps, Matterhorn Gottard Bahn and the Martigny-Châtelard-Chamonix line, train transport to the start is included in your registration fee. Please present your bib or the proof of registration that you will receive a few days before the race to validate the free course of your course. Please refer to the roadbook for more detailed information.

– How do we pay for the shuttle bus that takes us to the start?

It is included in your registration fee.

– Are Regionalps trains free? Can I take another train or a taxi?

Thanks to partnerships with the companies Regionalps, Matterhorn Gottard Bahn and the Martigny-Châtelard-Chamonix line, train transport to the start is included in your registration fee. Please show your bib as a ticket for the public transport. You cannot travel by this service on any other train company (SBB, for example). If you opt for a taxi, it will be at your own expense.

– What time does the shuttle to Oberwald depart from Le Bouveret?

All the information can be found in the rider’s roadbook, the updated version is published every year in March

– Is there transport for my luggage?

Yes, there’s a follower bag that follows you from one base to the next (660, 360, 170 and 100k races) Only the bag provided by the organization is allowed. Its volume is 50 liters. For your luggage that goes directly to Le Bouveret from Oberwald, there will also be organized transport. Your bag must be deposited on race day next to the start line

– Is there a campsite?

There is a campsite in Le Bouveret and Oberwald. You will find the necessary links to book your place and find all the information onthe accommodation page of our website.

– Can you go “wild camping”? Or in a parking lot?

In Canton Valais it is formbidden to camp outside the specific camping areas.

– Can we camp in the starting area?

No, there will be no campsite to welcome you.

– What accommodation do you recommend in Le Bouveret for the night before the race?

Please note that we strongly recommend that you stay in Fiesch or Oberwald the night before the race so that you can be there on start day. We offer accommodation under the tab “Info -> Accommodation”. Follow this link to register.

– I would like to take the bib of my friend who can no longer race, is that possible?

Yes, this is free of charge and possible until August 1st at the latest. Please go directly through the registration platform (your dashboard) to make the change. Beyond this date, no more changes will be accepted.

– The days/times of bib collection scheduled for my race do not suit me. Can I request to remove it in another way?

It is only possible to collect your bib on the days and times indicated in your roadbook and specific to each event. No exceptions will be made, no bib issued by any other means or sent by post.

– Are we allowed to participate in the trail without a bib?

No, registration is mandatory. It is therefore impossible to take part in the race without a race number.

– Until what time can I pick up my bib?

All the information (places and times) of bib collection is on the website (tab “bib collection”.), please consult it to find out where and when to pick it up.

– Can I ask a friend to pick up my bib for me?

No, you must collect your bib in person. (Photo ID will be required).

– What are the requirements to be invited as an elite runner?

We reserve places for elites, who request them, according to precise criteria and based on their general ITRA performance index. Runners who meet the criteria listed below are eligible for free registration: For women: > 710 Itra pointsFor men: > 820 Itra points If you meet this criterion and wish to register, please write to info@swisspeaks.ch to finalize your registration.

– I want to assist a runner during the race, how can I proceed?

You can resupply it at official supply stations and life bases, where it is mentioned that assistance is tolerated there. We are counting on your fair play and environmental awareness not to exaggerate and to remain rational in your travels. The race management has the right to limit the number of people assisting a runner. Note, however, that only one person per runner will be allowed to enter the premises of the refreshment stations and life bases. Please let us know, a badge will be awarded to you. Please also respect the volunteers and the various staff present on these premises, to remain polite and courteous to them, and to respect the cleanliness of the premises. Apart from the points mentioned below, any form of assistance is strictly forbidden. Any assistance will be treated as cheating and the runner concerned will be disqualified. The race management declines all responsibility in the event of difficulties encountered by a runner following refreshments and/or other services (medical etc…) provided by his personal assistance, outside and within the established tolerance zones. There will then be no possible recourse.

– I am registered for one of the races and I want to run with my dog, is this allowed?

No, the accompaniment of your dog (or any other animal) is not allowed on the races, in the refreshment stations or in the life bases.

– Can I be accompanied on part of the course during the race?

This is the competition is individual (2 for the 380 duo). Each competitor must therefore be able to carry it out in total autonomy. As a result, and for the sake of fairness, it is not allowed to be accompanied – or to accept to be accompanied – on important portions of the course (50m or more).

– Can the person assisting a runner keep the follower bag with him/her?

Each runner finds his follower bag on each life base. This bag cannot be kept by the assistance under any circumstances. The organization is responsible for transporting it from life base to life base.

– Will there be a follower roadbook?

Yes, an accompanying roadbook is available on the website.

– What aid stations are accessible by car? What about life bases?

All the life bases are accessible by car. The accessible refreshment stations are as follows: Ulrichen, Reckingen, Chäserstatt, Fiesch, Eisten, Grächen, Bluomatt, Grimentz, Evolène, Grande-Dixence, Lourtier, Prassurny, Trient, Finhaut, Barme, Chaux-Pâlin, Morgins, Conche, Le Freney. However, please respect the places on which you will be riding, avoid clogging certain mountain roads, and respect any access that may be subject to authorisation.

– Will it be possible to follow the races live?

Yes, we offer a follow-up. This is a live tracking (geolocation) in collaboration with the company Trackmium. For more information, please refer to the roadbook.

– Will we be geolocated?

All 360 and 170 racers will be geolocated. This service will not exist for other races.

– What is the size of the follower bag?

Follower bags will be provided by the organization. They will be 50 cm long and 35 cm in diameter (cylindrical) for the 380. For the 100 miles and 100, 30L bags will be provided. This follower bag must remain in the hands of the organization for the duration of the race (from life base to life base). It must not be kept by any runners’ companions. The contents of this follower bag will not be checked. In this sense, no dispute or claim as to its content on arrival will be admissible.

– Do you offer childcare?

No, we do not offer this service on SwissPeaks Trail routes.

– Are poles allowed on the SwissPeaks trail?

Yes, sticks are allowed on all courses and are even highly recommended. If you choose to run with poles, you must keep them with you throughout the race. However, if you choose to take poles, it is for the duration of the race. The runner who starts without poles and recovers along the way will be penalised.

– What about lost/found items during the race?

Any object found on one of our races will be repatriated to Le Bouveret and available at the SwissPeaks stand. Please contact this stand no later than Sunday 7 September at midday to pick up a lost item (if it has been brought back to us). All unclaimed found items will be destroyed within a week of the race.

– Can I pay in Euros?

Yes, you can pay in Euro. Please check on internet to find the exchange rate in Swiss francs.

– Do I get UTMB® points or “running stones” for finishing one of the SPT races?

No. You will find on our website all the ITRA and UTMB® references assigned for each race.

– What are ITRA points?

You can find all the information on ITRApoints here.

– Can I benefit from ITRA points after 170 km even if I retire?

In the event of voluntary give up, no points will be awarded. On the other hand, if the race is interrupted, you will be awarded with points. Note that these are not UTMB points but ITRA points.

– Which website can I go to to follow a runner?

A few days before the race, a link to a live site will be indicated on the home page.

– Are runners tracked by GPS?

Runners in the 700, 380 and 100 mile races are tracked by the GPS tracker from the company Trackmium. These are GPS devices that communicate over LTE networks. They weigh about 80 grams. They are to be attached to the outside of the backpack and returned on arrival. The provision of GPS tracking will not be visible to the public. However, a live tracking platform will allow you to follow the rankings as well as the evolution of the runners on the courses.
