The Thames Ring Series, started by Lindley Chambers in 2011, is a set of trail races near Streatley-on-Thames on the River Thames. The series includes the iconic 250-mile (≈256 mi) overnight route, a 150-mile option, and a 100-mile route—all on mainly rural towpaths and footpaths with canal and riverside scenery.
Pacemakers/Buddy runners are not allowed—this is an unsupported race. All runners are tracked via GPS trackers; tracking links are provided to spectators and supporters. Cut-offs are strict and enforced: if timed out, you must withdraw and surrender your race number. The event is on canal and riverside paths, is mainly flat, and places participants on their own for food and kit—carry essentials and plan for long hours with limited sleep.
