FAQ

How much does race entry cost?

Visit the Entries Page to find out more.

Is there a multi-race race discount?

Yes, there is a per race £2.00 discount for runners entering all three races.

When do entries open?

During March 2026. Follow our social media channels to be the first to hear when entries are open!

Why are unaffiliated runners charged an extra £2?

Any entrants from unaffiliated clubs or who are unattached to any club are not insured unless they have paid this extra fee. Insurance cover is a condition of entry.

How do I get an EA number?

EA membership is £20 per year – this is either paid for by your club as part of your subscriptions, or you may need to arrange as an addition to your club subs. However we would recommend that you speak to your club committee to understand how they arrange for this.

How can I enter?

Entry is online only, visit the Entries Page to find out more.

Is there a minimum age limit?

Yes, 15 on the day of the race.

How is my age category calculated?

Your age category will be determined from your age on the first race The reason for this date is that it eliminates issues where a runner may have a birthday during the series.

Is there a limited number of entries?

Yes, 800 per race See also ‘Can I enter on the day?’ The limit for the junior run is 175.

Can I amend my entry?

Yes, please email us at yateleyroadraces@gmail.com

Do you send me a confirmation of my entry?

Yes. This should come automatically to you when you enter.

When do you send race packs out?

Race pack will be send out to you close to race day. It typically contains just the race bib, no safety pins.

Can I enter a team?

Yes. For the first time this year we are organising a team event for clubs. This will be the first four runners from one gender as they cross the line.

Can I get a discount - OAP/low income etc?

Yes, if you are aged 15 or 70 and over on the race day. Discount will be applied automatically on the entry portal.

Can I enter a friend?

Yes, see Entries Page

Do you give refunds?

No refunds are available. In the event that the race has to be cancelled we will still need to pay for all of the services and so we will be unable to refund the race cost to runners.

Having entered, can I defer my entry?

Deferrals can only happen IF there are spaces in the next race. If there is space then you will be able to defer to races within this series only.

Can I swap entries with a friend?

Can wheelchair users enter the race?

Are there any free entries/invitations?

Yes, if you are aged 70 and over on the race day. Discount will be applied automatically on entry portal. Free entries may also be awarded at the race director’s discretion. Please note that free places are not eligible for a prize for winning an age category. If an initial entry has been paid for. but deferred to another race in the series, then you will be eligible for a prize.

Can I enter on the day?

No. We have a maximum number of 800 runners – once that is reached we cannot accept any more. The maximum has been pre-set following discussions with the police authority and our insurers. Each race is usually full a few weeks before the race day so we have no need for entries on the day. Entry to the junior run can be carried out on the day unless the 175 entrant limit is reached.

Why is there only one prize in my age category?

Due to the quantity of entrants in some of the categories, there is no real competition and therefore no further prizes. This is reviewed annually and if the quantity increases then we will introduce prizes.

How do you calculate series prizes?

For each race, entrants are awarded points, from 20 down to 1, within their category. These are added up and after three races the entrants with the best total points in their category win prizes. In the event that the points are tied, the entrant with the better total time over the three races is awarded a prize over those with inferior times. If total points and times are equal, the criterion is which entrant beat the other more often over the three races. If they tie after that, a coin will be tossed to determine the winner.

Do I get a T shirt (free / to buy)?

There is an opportunity to purchase official Yateley 10k race series technical running tops in 2026. You will receive a link to order yours when you receive confirmation of your entry. Tops come in pink or blue, mens or ladies fit and are priced at £21 including postage. They feature a map of the Yateley 10k route on the back.

What's the history of these races?

Yateley, Hampshire, has been home to a mid-week 10K series since around 1987. We believe that the first races were the Yateley half-marathons, held in the summers of 1980-83. After that they became converted to a series of three 10K races, held at 7:30 in the evening on the first Wednesday of June, July and August at Frogmore Campus on a now-defunct course. Sandhurst Joggers took over responsibility for the organisation of the series in 1992.

Who sponsors the races?

, See our Partners page If you wish to sponsor us in the future, please send email to The Sponsorship Secretary. We will give you extensive publicity in our literature, website advertisements and or banners on the race night. We are also open to your sponsorship proposals.

Can I wear headphones?

We encourage runners to run without headphones and enjoy the atmosphere. However, we also acknowledge that some people do like to run with music and so bone conductor headphones (as approved by UK athletics) are allowed.

Physio and sports massage

The wonderful people at Thorpes are providing post and pre race massage. Just come along to their tenton the field.

How can I contact you?

If you have any issue or comments we are happy to have your feedback. The race series has been going from strength to strength over the years and this is partly because we are continually trying to improve on what we do – sometimes we will make mistakes. We value all the runners who participate in the races and value all comments whether good or bad. Please see Contacts Page

How can I help out?

Preparing for the races is a year-round operation by a dedicated team of volunteers so there plenty of opportunities to help make a difference to the smooth operation of the event not just on the day itself. Please see the Volunteers page.
