Über die Veranstaltung
The Door County Half Marathon got its start where so many ideas form on the Door Peninsula – over breakfast at Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant in Sister Bay. David Eliot was having breakfast with his then-girlfriend (now wife), veteran marathoner Krista Eliot, in January of 2007 when he and Lars Johnson hatched the idea of starting a half marathon in Door County. Johnson had batted around the idea of a distance event with Pastor Michael Brecke, and soon after, Johnson and Eliot started turning idea into action.

On-course aid stations offering water, Gatorade Endurance Formula, and Clif Shot Gel; post-race fruit, bagels, water, and Tailwind Endurance Formula. Beer available at finish (one free beer with ID).

Pacers are provided at many different finishing goal times. Meet the pacer team at Packet Pickup for details; check in with them for start wave and target times per start wave.

Q: When is the 2026 race?
A: Saturday, May 2, 2026 Q: Can I transfer my bib to another runner, or switch to between the Half Marathon and 5k or vice versa?
A: Yes, we will have Hammer Gels near Mile 8. Q: Can someone else pick up my race packet for me, and if so, what do they need to bring?
A: Yes. You can have a friend or family member pick up your packet and they don’t need ID or a confirmation number. Q: What is your cancellation policy? A: Sorry, there will be no refunds in the case of cancellation. Q: Can I shower somewhere after the race?
A: Since our race is hosted in one of the most beautiful places in America, we celebrate that beauty, and the efforts that so many have made to preserve it, by singing America the Beautiful instead. It simply seems most appropriate for our location. Q: Why do you break down the finish line so early?
A: We start to break down the finish line at 1:15 pm, or at the 3 hour 15 minute mark. We do this to get the roads to the park re-opened by 1:30 pm as required so other visitors can enjoy the park. Those walking at a pace of 16:00 per mile or faster will be able to finish before the finish line comes down. Q: When is the 2027 race?
