Über die Veranstaltung

Known as the “The Coolest Marathon in Arizona,” The Flagstaff Marathon is a completely off-road course in the Coconino National Forest. At 8,000+ ft. elevation, it is one of the most challenging courses in the country, with 1,200 feet of climbing for the half marathon and 2,400 for the full, and composed entirely of single and double track trails.

Verpflegung & Versorgung

Gels and hydration products available. On-course food and drink: burgers, hot dogs, chips, water, and sports drinks at multiple aid stations. Post-race: complimentary beer from Historic Brewing and a choice of burrito or tortilla soup from Tamales, USA (vegetarian and gluten-free options available).

Pacer

Pacemaker/Pacer events are indicated on the race day schedule (Renntag für Laufende). Pacers set target times per start wave and may wear Pacer flag bibs. Follow the flagged pacers on course; stay with your assigned pacer group for your intended finish time.

    We just want you to get out and have fun! We just ask that all racers finish within 8 hours. Aid stations will be broken down after 6 hours, but we’ll be at the finish line to cheer you on if you’re still out on the course. Who holds the records for the Flagstaff Marathon?

Watch your footing—branches and rocks are on the trail. Run with your head up and watch the for course marking and turns. Please do not litter in our beautiful forest. Dispose of your trash at aid stations. Check the weather the day before and wear the appropriate clothing. Wildlife and cattle might be on the course. Go around and give them a wide berth. Ear buds/headphones are STRONGLY discouraged. However, if you listen to music use only one ear bud so you can hear participants and volunteers around you. Please thank our wonderful volunteers. Announce yourself upon passing another runner. Be courteous to volunteers and other runners. We’re all doing this for fun and to raise funds for a great cause—enjoy yourself out here.     The course will be marked as follows: Orange pin flags will be used along the trail to provide direction and confidence. Critical turns will be marked with orange pin flags and large finger/arrow signs. Course marshals will be located at key turns. Is there a map of the race available?

    There will be a $5.00 parking fee. Cash only, please. Parking is somewhat limited, so if possible please carpool. How will timing and scoring be handled?

    The races will be timed/scored using chip timing provided by Run Flagstaff. Please do not damage (bend, remove, mutilate) the chip or foam on your bib. Wear your bib visibly on your chest. Use a pin for each corner of the bib. The bib and chip are disposable, no need to return. Please respect the finish line chute, cross the mats only once and proceed through to collect your finisher’s medal and other goodies – do not turn around and go back over the mats toward the course.
