IF I REGISTERED FOR THE HALF, BUT WANT TO SWITCH TO THE MARATHON, OR VICE VERSA, CAN I DO THAT? YES! You can switch between the two races, as long as there are still available entries. Email support@idaph.net to request the change. If you selected the pre-event shipping option and had your bib mailed to you, you MUST stop by a packet pickup session and swap your bib. Runners who run the race with the wrong bib will be DQ’d. CAN’T I JUST “GIVE” MY ENTRY TO MY FRIEND IF I CANNOT RUN? No. Due to USATF rules and regulations, each participant must register themselves and sign their own waiver. Any walker or runner who is participating with another participant’s bib number will be disqualified and bandits will be banned from future iDaph events. WHAT ARE THE AGE REQUIREMENTS FOR REGISTERING FOR A PARTICULAR EVENT? Participants under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign their Registration Waiver for all events. WHAT IS INCLUDED IN MY ENTRY FEE? Participating in this event automatically puts you in the history books as you will be part of a historic thirteenth annual celebration event! Every participant will receive a technical running shirt (until the deadline,) shuttle ticket, free post race beer, a goody bag filled with awesome swag from our sponsors, a custom finisher medal and access to the post race party. I AM TRAVELING FROM ANOTHER TOWN. CAN YOU DIRECT ME TO YOUR RACE HEADQUARTERS HOTEL AND OTHER HOTELS IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO THE START/FINISH LINE AREA? HOW DO YOU TIME THE EVENTS? We use the MyLaps timing system. Each runner race number has a timing chip on the back of the bib. ARE STROLLERS OR BABY JOGGERS ALLOWED ON THE COURSE? We love kids, but due to the permit with the City of Asheville, and the limited space on the roads and greenway, strollers are not permitted. ARE DOGS ALLOWED AT THE EVENT? We love dogs, but due to the permit with the City of Asheville, and the limited space on the roads and greenway, dogs are not permitted on the course. IS THERE A WHEELCHAIR AND/OR HANDCRANK DIVISION IN THE RACE? No, due to the greenway and out and back nature of many miles of this event, there is not a wheelchair division. WHAT IS THE MARATHON EXPO? DO I HAVE TO GO? DOES IT COST MONEY? The Asheville Marathon Expo is FREE and open to participants, their friends and family, and the general public. The Expo will be held on Friday, March 20th at Race Headquarters – DoubleTree Hotel. Each registered participant is required to attend to pick up their race bib (includes the timing chip on bib), t-shirt and goody bag. Additionally, the Expo is a great place to get great deals on shoes and clothing, meet running legends, sample new products and more. Check back on the website for vendor info and other information. CAN SOMEONE ELSE PICK UP MY BIB AND RACE PACKET FOR ME? YES! Someone other than the registered runner may pick up the race packet at the Expo. I LOST MY BIB! CAN I GET A REPLACEMENT? YES! Receiving a second bib + timing chip will cost $5 and can be done at either the Race Expo or the emergency packet pickup session on race morning. I WON’T BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE; CAN I STILL PICK UP MY T-SHIRT? YES! Please stop by the Expo and pick up your t-shirt and goody bag. Please let us know if you are unable to run when you are at the expo so we won’t be expecting you on race morning. IS THE 6 1/2 HR TIME LIMIT TO COMPLETE THE MARATHON STRICTLY ENFORCED? Yes, the course will be unattended by police, security, volunteers, race resources and water stations at the course cutoff times. WHAT IF I GET AN INJURY ON THE COURSE? We will have medical staff on bicycles, course monitors and volunteers watching and assisting injured runners. If your injury is substantial and requires immediate medical care you will be transported to the emergency room by ambulance. WHO ARE THE OTHER SPONSORS OF THE EVENT? Our inaugural event happened to be on the coldest day on record in Asheville in 2013! It is typically mild yet still somewhat unpredictable in March in our WNC area. Be prepared for any and all types of weather conditions. On March 16th, the average high temperature in Asheville is 58 degrees Fahrenheit. The average low is 37 degrees. It’s often chilly in the morning, but is expected to warm up throughout the event. Layers are advised for all runners! Please don’t drop clothing on the race course.
