No, there is no waiting list. When does the race fill up? It has already filled for 2026. Why do you cap registration? In our survey of runners, they said they liked the small, community feeling of the race and want us to keep it that way. We agree! Also, this is a narrow, winding rural course open to traffic, and we need to keep numbers down for safety reasons. Are there refunds? We do not offer refunds for personal circumstances. We strongly encourage you to spend a few extra bucks and get the Race Roster Registration Refund Protection registration insurance when you register. I got the Registration Refund Protection and I want to make a claim for a refund. How do I do it? You can submit a refund request with Teak/Protecht by clicking “Request a refund” from your Refund Protection Program confirmation email. If you are not able to find this email, you can submit your request HERE . Use this form to ask any questions about your coverage. Can I defer to next year’s race if I can’t run? No, there are no deferrals. We strongly encourage you to purchase Race Roster Registration Refund Protection, which is available when you register. Can I transfer my registration to another person? No, we do not allow bib transfer. Since we sell out every year, we’ve found that this can lead to the reselling of bibs (scalping) at a higher price. The price has gone up with the required donations. Why is that? Yes, prices for have gone up and continue to rise for everything from buses to portable toilets to tent and property rentals, permits, etc.! However, we are determined to keep the runner experience a great one. We’ve instituted the required donations to connect people directly with our fundraising partners. This brings certainty to their outcomes and allows for optional donation receipts for our registrants for tax purposes. We do offer discounts to local runners to keep the race affordable through the two local running clubs whose members volunteer with us on a regular basis. See the registration page for more info. Is there an age requirement? You must be at least 18 years old on race day. There is no upper limit. When (and where) do I pick up my bib and runner packet? This year we will have a traditional bib pickup as follows: – The day before the race (Saturday), from 5pm to 7pm at Greenfield Community College – Sunday, race day, 5:45am to 6:45am at Runner Services at Potash Hill – Adaptive athletes can receive their bibs at the Adaptive Athletes parking lot by request. Will there be race-day registration? No. You must pre-register online. Do you offer a military discount? Yes, for active, veteran, retired, and reservist personnel. Contact the race directors for details through the Contact page. Please be prepared to verify your status. Getting there How do I get to Greenfield/ Marlboro? Greenfield Community College, where the race finishes, and where parking is provided, is located near the intersection of Interstate 91 and Route 2. Take exit 26 off I-91 and follow the traffic rotary to Route 2 west. Once on Route 2, take a right at the first traffic light onto Colrain Road. We are located on College Drive, six-tenths of a mile ahead on the left. GPS: One College Drive, Greenfield, Massachusetts, 01301 Potash Hill campus in Marlboro Vermont, where the race will start, has room for drop-offs only. No parking. There will be buses to take runners to the start from Greenfield Community College (see below). To get to Potash Hill, take Exit 2 off Interstate 91 in Brattleboro, Vermont. Turn right onto Route 9 West through West Brattleboro. Continue on Route 9 for approximately 10 miles, past the Marlboro Elementary School on left. Turn left onto South Road for approximately three miles, through the village of Marlboro to the Potash Hill campus. GPS (use with caution; may lead you down rural roads!): 2582 South Road, Marlboro, VT 05344 Which airport should I fly into? Logan International Airport 1 Harborside Avenue Boston, MA 02128 Logan is a 2-hour drive from Greenfield. This is a large, busy airport and likely has the most direct flights from your location. Bradley International Airport Schoephoester Road Windsor Locks, CT 0609 Bradley is roughly a 75-minute drive from Greenfield. This is a smaller accessible airport with many direct flight options. How do I get to the start? The start is at the Potash Hill Campus, but the parking is at the finish at Greenfield Community College. We run a bus service from the parking area to the start. Buses will leave starting at 5 a.m. The last bus will leave at 5:30 a.m. (see Schedule page). Can I have someone drop me off at the start? Yes, but there is no parking at the Potash Hill campus. Parking Where do I park? There is ample space to park at Greenfield Community College (finish). Runners must take the bus or be dropped off at Potash Hill (start). There is NO parking at the start. How do I get back to my car at the end? You can park at Greenfield Community College (finish) and get your car right where the race ends. The Race What time does the race start? The marathon starts at 7 a.m. Click on the “Schedule” menu above for more info about what happens when. Is there an early/late start option? No. We are already asking a lot of our volunteers to be out there for so many hours! Is there a time limit? Yes, the course will close at 1:30 p.m., six and a half hours after the start. That’s a 14:53 minute per mile pace. I’m training to qualify for Boston. Will I be penalized because this is a downhill race? No. Our course does not fall under BAA’s downhill results indexing because the net downhill of our course is less than 1500 feet. What are the rules? We use the the USATF’s Competition Rules as our basis for ensuring a fair and safe competition. This is a Boston qualifying race and we take this very seriously. We have unfortunately had to disqualify a very few runners for breaches of the rules. Often this has been due to runners’ lack of awareness rather than dishonesty, so please familiarize yourself with the rules! To highlight a few frequent issues/questions: Safety First! Runners must obey all laws regarding pedestrian use of open, public roads and yield right-of-way when required and as safe and appropriate. You must wear your official, assigned bib (race number) on the front of your body where it is visible at all times during the race. This can be difficult if layering clothing, so please plan accordingly You must follow the directions of race officials You may not give or sell your bib to another runner for any reason You may not wear a bib assigned to another person You must run the entire course without the assistance of another person or any mechanical conveyance (medical attention is not considered “assistance”) You must start at the official 7:00 am start unless registered in the Adaptive Athletes division, which starts at 6:45 am. You must finish by the cutoff time at 1:30 pm. You may not have a friend run with you if they are not a registered runner. This is considered “unfair assistance”. While having non-registered pacers is a common practice in ultras, this is not permitted under USATF rules. You may not have a friend support you on a bike or from a vehicle. This is considered “unfair assistance”. If this is reported, you will be disqualified. The Co-Race Directors reserve the right to interpret the rules and make a final decision on any appeal. You may carry handheld water bottle, hydration belt, or backpack hydration. You may receive hydration support from a friend, but only at an authorized aid station and only with prior approval of the Race Directors.
