There’s singletrack? What tire size do you recommend?
Yes, the course will be loaded with flowy (and climby) singletrack, we would approximate around 25 miles (for the 115 mile course). We certainly recommend nothing smaller than about a 45mm tire set up tubeless. Durable tires always win the day here in OZ.
What kind of bike do you recommend?
This is a gravel event but run what you brung! Flat bar, drop bar, gravel, mountain bike, touring bike. The choice is yours. Just make sure it’s set up and ready for rowdy terrain (tire width, tubeless, etc).
This route sounds difficult. I’m hesitant to commit.
That’s understandable. This not your average 115 mile bike ride. Our course takes significantly longer to complete due to the singletrack sectors (the 115 mile route has approximately 25 miles of singletrack on it). If you’ve never done this event before and you’re not sure if you can complete it in the allotted 12 hours, we strongly suggest you dip your toes into the water with the 60 (or 35) mile option first. It’s still a beast!
What will the format be like?
We’ll have two different options. The first option will be a standard mass start like most gravel events (115, 60, 35 mile options). The second will be a three person team format with teams taking off in increments, checking in at checkpoints along the way, collecting their “items of proof”, and completing the course together for time (also 115 mile or 60 mile options).
When will the route be released?
The Rule of Three route is new each year, and we try to hold off on route revelations until closer to RO3. The element of surprise is a nice touch.
Will there be feed zones or support along the course?
Yes, we have aid stations for all three routes with a variety of nutrition. But please come prepared with plenty of your own food and water.
I’m coming from out of town. Where should I stay?
There are numerous ways to experience all that is Bentonville and Bella Vista. Hotel, Camping, Airbnb, etc. We’ll have camping available at the venue as well. A complete guide to lodging in Bentonville can be found here.
